Meet Amber Vongsouvanh | Brow Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Vongsouvanh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My goal was to establish a unique haven for estheticians in Colorado Springs, a place that didn’t already exist. With the constant influx of new residents due to the military, there’s a noticeable gap in dedicated spaces where people can easily access services like brow shaping, lash extensions, or waxing. I envisioned a welcoming environment that not only caters to these needs but also fosters a strong sense of community and support among industry professionals.
Additionally, I aimed to create a platform for collaboration and growth, where estheticians can share knowledge, techniques, and experiences. By building this network, I hope to elevate the standards of our craft and empower each other in our careers, making our industry stronger as a whole. It’s not just about beauty services; it’s about cultivating relationships and uplifting one another in a vibrant community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets my business apart is my commitment to driving change in the community and infusing a vibrant, city-like atmosphere into Colorado Springs. For me, it’s not just about creating another rental space; it’s about fostering connections and building a brand that resonates with people. I’ve always felt an innate calling to do something bigger and to make a louder impact in the world.
Once I decided to take my career seriously, I had to step back from various influences that were negatively affecting my mental and emotional well-being. It’s easy to cling to what’s comfortable, but I made the conscious choice to start living in alignment with the best version of myself. One significant lesson I’ve learned is that prioritizing your own well-being often means letting go of certain relationships. Initially, this can be painful, but ultimately, you won’t regret making those tough choices.
I’ve come to understand the importance of surrounding myself with a strong, supportive circle—one that’s often more effective when it’s small. The challenges and trials you face will test you, and the true friends who stand by you during those tough times are the ones who become your lifelong supporters.
What I want the world to know is that it’s perfectly acceptable to walk away from people, places, and things you once cherished in order to pursue your dreams. When you focus on yourself and your growth, the journey should feel fulfilling. If it starts to feel like hard work, it might be time to reevaluate your surroundings. I’m excited to continue this journey, inspiring others to embrace their paths and create communities that thrive on support and empowerment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Colorado Springs for a week, I’d create an unforgettable itinerary that showcases the best our vibrant city has to offer. We’d start our mornings with a good hike to look at city views before diving into downtown to explore unique shops and galleries. One of our must-visit spots would be the iconic Garden of the Gods as well.
For lunch, we’d savor some delightful flavors at Shuga’s, known for its creative menu and cozy atmosphere. In the afternoons, we’d enjoy drinks at the Shrunken Head Tiki Bar, soaking in the tropical vibes, or we might swing by Shame and Regret for a more laid-back experience. Evenings would be filled with fun as we play pool at Crooked Cue, enjoying the friendly competition and great company. Each night, we’d indulge in amazing dinners at places like The Rabbit Hole or Bonnie and Read, capping off our days with delicious cuisine and memorable conversations. This week-long adventure would perfectly blend food, fun, and the stunning natural beauty of Colorado Springs, leaving my friend with unforgettable memories of our time together.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Joe Campana and Audi Sutherland, my former bosses at the bar where I worked before embarking on my entrepreneurial journey.
From the very beginning, they believed in me and provided unwavering support throughout my time in beauty school and beyond. Their guidance made the transition to starting my own business feel much more manageable. They not only offered practical assistance but also instilled in me the confidence to take that leap of faith.
Moreover, I want to recognize the broader community of mentors and peers who have shaped my journey. Their collective encouragement and wisdom have been invaluable, reminding me that success is never a solo endeavor. It’s a tapestry woven from the threads of collaboration, friendship, and shared experiences. Here’s to all the unsung heroes who uplift and inspire us along the way!
