Meet Joe Teichman | Singer-songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Teichman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joe, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I don’t think music and songwriting is something I can ever give up. It is always going to be a part of who I am. Whether or not it’s commercially done is the difference. Even though there are millions of phenomenal songwriters in this world, if I can write a song that at least one person finds relatable, mission accomplished.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I still don’t really know how to define what success is but I feel, somedays, I’ve achieved it. I’ve been lucky enough to travel around the country, meeting strangers and sharing stories and songs about those adventures. Some people can relate. They can feel something that they don’t have to address. I think that’s something we all have but are too vulnerable to admit.
I started not knowing a dang thing about music. I didn’t know how to write a song. I knew nothing about the industry but I dove in anyways. It all started in College Station, TX playing fraternity parties and dive bars across from the Texas A&M University campus to traveling across the states and opening for some great regional musicians. It got lonely. It got expensive. But the thrill and feeling of meeting new folks, of all different lifestyles, changed those lows. It put a lot into perspective and opened my eyes to many things.
I know approach my music with a different view. Not everyone will like it. But as long as they get it, that’s the goal.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d head up to Steamboat Springs, keep going north to Clark, CO and stop at theSteamboat Lake Outpost for some tunes and grub. Maybe fish a little at the lake. Then the next morning, we’d go hike Hahn’s Peak and make out way into town for some more food and beverages.
We’d head down the hill back tot Denver, catch a Rockies game, go find some music in RINO or South Broadway and end it at the Englewood Grand playing some shuffleboard.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely would not be where I am without my close musician friends, Nick Verzosa (Albuquerque,NM) and Kyle Fambro (Breckenridge, TX). They have always been critics in the best way possible and I have seen a lot of miles around this country with them. We’ve written songs together, laughed, cried and everything in-between.
Since I began my musical journey, my parents have been emotionally supportive and have proud of my dreams.
My wife has been a great backbone of support and knows what it takes to pursue a dream.
