Meet Janielle Holloway | Owner | Lead Wedding Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janielle Holloway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janielle, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Something Dainty has been my commitment to creating intentional, beautiful experiences through unique design and genuine connection. I truly believe the magic is in the details — whether it’s a custom bar menu that reflects a couple’s personality (or even their pets!) or a seating chart that sparks conversation.
But more than anything, it’s about trust. I make sure my clients feel comfortable with me and know I’m not just here to plan and design their wedding — I’m also a listening ear when they’re feeling overwhelmed or need help organizing their thoughts. I’m here to help them translate their vision into something tangible, making the process feel as effortless as the end result looks.
That strong client relationship, paired with a consistent standard of quality and care, has truly been the foundation of my brand’s growth and success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other planners is my commitment to going beyond the typical checklist. I’ve built a network of trusted industry professionals who allow me to offer my couples exclusive perks and behind-the-scenes support they wouldn’t easily find on their own. From securing better options for accommodations to streamlining logistics that often feel overwhelming, I create a planning experience that’s not only beautiful but also thoughtfully customized and stress-free. My goal is to anticipate needs before they even arise and deliver solutions that elevate the experience for my couples and their guests.
Getting to where I am today hasn’t been an easy journey. To be honest, I didn’t always know I wanted to be a wedding planner. I went to college and changed my major three times before I finally took a step back and asked myself, what do I truly love to do? What’s something I would want to do for the rest of my life?
I realized I had a passion for creating experiences and bringing people together, so I decided to major in Event and Meeting Management. While in school, I took an unpaid internship with a well-established wedding planner here in Colorado. That experience opened my eyes to the world of weddings, and I instantly knew it was the industry I wanted to be in. There was just something about the joy, the detail, and the emotion of weddings that felt like the perfect fit. That hands-on experience was the turning point for me, and I haven’t looked back since.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that not every client will be the right fit, and that’s okay. It’s so important to make sure there’s a genuine connection between you and the couple, especially since you may be working closely together for over a year. A strong, respectful relationship sets the tone for the entire planning process. I’ve also learned that it’s perfectly okay to be honest if you feel you’re not the best fit for a couple. It’s better for both sides to acknowledge that upfront than to move forward in a partnership that doesn’t feel aligned. At the end of the day, my goal is to provide the best possible support, and that starts with the right connection.
I want people to know that Something Dainty is more than just wedding planning, it’s about creating meaningful, personalized experiences for couples who want their day to feel like them. I didn’t build this business overnight; it’s been a journey of following my passion, learning as I go, and pouring my heart into every project.
I truly care about my couples and want them to feel supported, seen, and excited every step of the way. My goal isn’t just to plan a beautiful wedding, it’s to make the whole process feel fun, stress free and true to who they are.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado is such a big state, I feel like I’d need weeks to take friends to all the places I’d want to show them! I’m originally from Hawaii, so I’m still discovering everything Colorado has to offer, but I’ve definitely found some favorites. I love a good speakeasy, and my top pick is Provision in Castle Rock, I’d definitely take them there for drinks and some snack. And because I’m a huge fan of sushi and hot pot, I’d have to drag them to Chubby Cattle off Broadway!
I’d also take them hiking, one of my favorite trails is Silver Dollar Lake. There’s something so peaceful about being in the mountains, surrounded by nature.
Some of my favorite things to check out in Colorado are farmers markets, new hiking trails, and cozy coffee shops with a cozy vibe. And when it comes to people, I’m most inspired by those with stories to tell. I love hearing about people’s pasts and experiences, I could listen to my grandma for hours talking about the world she grew up in and everything she went through. There’s something really special about learning through other people’s lives.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband! He has truly been my biggest supporter from the very beginning (we’ve been together for 11 years). I’ve always been a planner and a goal-setter, once I have a vision, I can’t sit still until I’ve brought it to life. He knows that about me, and instead of being overwhelmed by it, he embraces it. Whether I’m riding the high of a new idea or feeling stuck after hitting a wall, he’s always there to cheer me on, offer perspective, or jump in to help however he can.
He believes in me on the days I feel unstoppable and, more importantly, on the days I need reminding of my own strength. Having someone in my corner who’s just as invested in my success, and who genuinely wants to see me thrive, has made all the difference. He’s not just my partner in life, but in every dream I chase.
