Meet CB WanderBus | Owner and Business Developer

We had the good fortune of connecting with CB WanderBus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi CB WanderBus, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Where I live, it is hard to make it just like any other small town, ski town, basically everywhere. Prices keep rising and locals keep getting pushed out. I needed to find something as a side hustle that I enjoyed and that was fun. I got the idea at a buddies wedding and rolled with it. Drove out to Phoenix with my previous girlfriend once we found the bus we wanted and towed it back to Crested Butte, CO.
Funny story is we wanted to call the bus Lola. When we got to the owners place he mentioned we should check out his coffee shop named Lola’s before we left town. History ever since! 🙂

What should our readers know about your business?
I love traveling and creating memories. I think by having this photo booth and being able to be apart of peoples events gives me a sense of satisfaction. I have worked in customer service, hospitality management, property management etc. I like having fun and being goofy which makes this business enjoyable. It was definitely a stretch to start it and then with COVID happening it set us back a little. However, I believe this is my 7th summer now running this event and making great connections with the community and others. I have learned to give back when I can and to not take anything for granted. This is not my full time job as I do HOA Association and Property Management, but I do enjoy this business and making connections throughout.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start out at Butte Bagels, the team in there is always bringing the most emmaculent vibes. Loud, unapologetic music, hilarious jokes that are shouted with reckless abandon and no regard for the current clientele crammed into the tiny shack. People are often more roasted than the coffee. It’s a blast of a time. Then we’d hit the river for a rowdy float with warm sunshine and cold beers. After that, Elk Avenue is where it’s at. Eldo Brew Pub that the best outdoor balcony that overlooks the street, perfect for heckling your friends, or the occasional innocent tourist. Izakaya Sushi Cabin for a quick bite of the best sushi this side of the continental divide, and finally a bar crawl of Crested Butte’s world famous, Bar-muda Triangle. There’s always live music, and even livelier people. You have to try really hard to not have a good time in Crested Butte.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say that the Crested Butte community as a whole has been the biggest support. We are a small town, and we love to have fun. CB Wanderbus is all about creating a fun and personal experience, which is directly inspired by the people who book us, and the town we live in.
