Meet Mario Tapia | TATTOOER, husband and father

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mario Tapia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mario, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve always been a risk taker. It got me into a lot of trouble as a youth, but as an adult it has lead me to Colorado. 5 years ago I took a risk and moved my family to Greeley. In pursuit of a better future. Flash forward and here I am. A small business owner and breadwinner for my family.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been curious about art. My favorite class in middle school was art and theater. I was hanging out with the wrong crowd and wound up in Juvenile Detention. That is where I honed my drawing and writing skills. At 18 years old I was introduced to the world of tattooing. It has been the one constant in my life, a skill that kept food in my belly, clothes on my back and a roof over my head. I was once told by a client that “my vibe is very hope core” I couldn’t agree more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First we’d hit downtown Greeley, maybe catch a show at the Moxi and get some good eats. There are plenty of good restaurants. Then we’d check out Denver. Full day of exploring, the zoo, probably the art museum maybe catch a Rockies game. Then Rocky Mountain National park for some outdoors fun. A stroll through Estes Park and do some souvenir shopping.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I’d like to thank God. Then my wife and kids. My mentor Chris Reyes for giving me the tools to get started. John Montgomery, for his excellent guidance. Tayllor Made, Elias Ramirez, Brockton Fowler and Kyle Stratton for welcoming me into their establishments and for all of the invaluable lessons that they taught me as business owners.
