We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay The Rarest and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay The Rarest, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art has always been in me and part my life my whole life even beyond music and I’ve always been a creative individual ever since I could remember so, I felt like it was almost inevitable for me to pursue an artistic/creative career! Art in multiple forms has always moved my soul and I’ve always only been interested in pursuing things that do that, I have a hard time conforming otherwise. Nothing makes me feel the way I feel when I’m creating and nothing has helped me cope with life more than creating art has.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been an artist of many forms but I mainly make music, music became a part of me since the womb; I can truly say it found me. Some things that set me and my music apart from others is my authentic traditional but versatile artistic style, my unique and raw creative approach, undeniable passion, and relentless dedication. My forthcoming album ‘Red Flesh, Gold Soul’ (gearing up to release at possibly end of the year/top of ’26), I think will display all this and more! What I’m most proud of is inspiring others through my music because that’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. I got to where I am today because of my passion, patience, belief in myself and continuous hunger. On top of that, I always knew I had talent and something to offer so, I never let anything keep me discouraged and I made sure to take every single opportunity presented to me! Something I learned on my journey is to be grateful for every single opportunity, listen, purchase, and fan that you gain in this game because at the end of the day nothing is promised and nobody’s owes you anything, especially in this industry. Another thing I learned is you have to be patient in order to become successful, if you’re not patient you will most likely fail. I want the world to know I’m just like y’all another soul with a dream who’s been through a lot and that I’m also a pure, passionate, and creative artist. Nothing is fabricated or exaggerated, everything is raw, authentic, and from the heart when it comes to my creative efforts!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t really go out as much these days unless I’m booked and most of my favorite spots are closed now but if my friend was visiting the area and wanted me to show them a good time we probably would have to hit Tarantula Billiards Bar & Grill to shoot pool and get the night started I’d say! It’s always good vibes there to start your night off right then we would most likely make our way to The Gatsby Social Club probably the best nightclub in town since the closing of Status Ultra Lounge, Roo Bar, & Purple Martini. If we’re talking about food one place that I constantly give it up to in the city is Fire on The Mountain, a locally owned restaurant that serves wings among other dishes. They definitely have the best wings in Denver hands down. Another great place to eat is Machete Tequila + Tacos they make amazing Mexican food and their drinks are really good too. Next, I’m gonna have to big up Bar Red! Bar Red serves the best and most authentic Italian food in the city, they also host some of the dopest underground Hip-Hop shows brought to Denver as well as showcasing some of the best local talent! Zach (A.K.A. Status) is a dope person and a great owner and all the other staff are dope too! The environment is real chill, intimate, and you almost feel like you’re part of a small community or family everytime you go there!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well besides God of course before anybody else, I definitely would have to dedicate my shoutout to my mom and my pops (R.I.P.), if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t know what Hip-Hop is so, I most likely wouldn’t of fell in love with it then, became an MC myself! My pops had always believed in me from day one, he rarely missed a show, he always hyped me up and would spread my name to others when he could, and he was always engaged with my music or whatever I might be creating at the time and would even give me ideas! I miss that man, long live my Pops! I also have to dedicate my shout out to a mentor and former teacher of mines named Wayne Watts he taught me so much about life, how to maneuver it, and of course a lot about music like how to rap on beat (I used to rap off beat in my early work), how to count bars, delivery, stage presence, etc. He’s a great man and great MC himself and inspired me in many ways, make sure to check out his work as well as our collaborative single “I’m Ready” available on all streaming services! Next I’d like to dedicated my shout out to my day one homeboy Dlo Cane, I’ve known him since the 7th grade and we’ve always bonded through music and other life experiences! I feel he deserves a shout out because he’s always believed in me from day one and he’s contributed to my career in my ways! He’s shot and edited most of my music videos, we’ve collaborated on songs together and he’s actually recorded me and engineered my music before including mixing my forthcoming album ‘Red Flesh, Gold Soul’ in its entirety! He’s a dope artist himself and is actually a jack of many trades, check him out! I’d also like to dedicate my shoutout to each and everyone who has supported me in anyway whether that was with a share, a purchase, attendance of an event, or simply a listen. I am nothing without you! I truly love and appreciate you all and I hope you all continue being part of my journey! Last but not least I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to the culture as a whole, for giving me something to love, enjoy, practice, live, and wake up to!
