Meet Sahar Elhallak | Educator & Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sahar Elhallak and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sahar, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I don’t think we always know. In my life, there were times I wanted to give up, but circumstances didn’t give me that option; instead, they pushed me to keep going. Other times, I had to let something go, not because I failed, but because it was no longer helping me grow.
For me, the difference comes down to this: if something is breaking you without building you, it might be time to step away. But if it’s hard and still shaping you, still teaching you, then maybe you keep going.
I’ve learned that giving up isn’t always a weakness, and continuing isn’t always a strength. The real strength is in listening to yourself and having the courage to choose what helps you become who you are meant to be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an educator, author, and lifelong learner, and I’m currently preparing to pursue my master’s later in life. What sets me apart is that I didn’t follow a traditional path; my journey has been shaped by resilience, curiosity, and the courage to start over at different stages of my life. I’ve raised four children, rebuilt my life a few times, and found my voice as a writer and teacher, all while navigating challenges that could have easily stopped me.
I’m most proud of the way I’ve been able to combine my love for teaching with storytelling, creating spaces where students can discover their own voices, and sharing my experiences in my writing to inspire others who feel it might be “too late” to follow their dreams. It wasn’t easy. There were times I doubted myself, felt overwhelmed, and faced practical obstacles, but I overcame them by leaning on mentors, my family, and the belief that growth doesn’t stop at any age.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way are simple but powerful: resilience matters more than perfection, it’s never too late to start over, and every person, encounter, and experience leaves a mark that shapes who we become. I want the world to know that my story about courage, reinvention, and blooming later in life is a testament to the idea that learning, growth, and creativity are lifelong pursuits, and that the path may be unconventional, but it can also be profoundly rewarding.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to everyone who has influenced me along the way, in big and small ways. From mentors and teachers to friends, family, and even brief encounters with strangers, each person leaves an impression that shapes who we are, the choices we make, and how we see the world. I’ve learned that growth isn’t something we do alone. Every connection, every act of guidance, encouragement, or even challenge, contributes to the person we become. I also want to acknowledge the quiet moments of reflection and the solo journeys I’ve taken, like my trip to Morocco, which allowed me to meet myself fully and take the risks that shaped my path. Life is a mosaic of people and experiences, and I’m grateful for each one that has helped me grow, guided me, and pushed me to keep going even when the path felt uncertain.
