We had the good fortune of connecting with Ralph GIORDANO and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ralph, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started ArchAngel Productions over 20 years ago. At the time there weren’t many independent video production facilities in Colorado Springs, so I was one of very few. Plus at that time we all knew each other and had great business relationships even though we were in competition for certain types of production business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a Filmmaker and Photographer for over 30 years. I grew up in New Jersey… yes, a Jersey boy. I am a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. One of the top film schools in the U.S. Film has always been a part of my life. I received a huge push forward when I was a student intern on the horror anthology film Creepshow, Directed by the late George Romero. He was such a wonderful man and he really taught me a lot about what makes an independent film work. He had a crew of professionals that were a part of his production company for many years. They were like a family. He made me realize that a film production can be a very personal experience if you surround yourself with people you trust.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Colorado for over 30 years has made me feel like I have been home my entire life. Don’t get me wrong, New Jersey still has a major place in my heart… but Colorado is definitely home. Because of it’s natural beauty, I have taken my family and friends on many journeys into the high country and along the front range. Denver is always a hot spot, and especially 16th street mall and LoDo. So many restaurants and breweries to explore and enjoy. The high country has so much to offer, and not just the occasional tourist, but also the life long native who still has many parts of the state to explore. My favorite towns are Grand Junction, Telluride, Aspen, and of course, Colorado Springs which sits below America’s Mountain, Pikes Peak.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to Shoutout to a local Colorado Springs Non-Profit… The Independent Film Society of Colorado. I have volunteered with this organization for 8 years. After I Co-Founded a Film/Video networking group in Colorado Springs (Peak Film Forum), IFSOC approached me and asked us to become a major part of their organization. Of course, I said yes. And we have been a team ever since.
