We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Chrys and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think in the most basic form, the key to success is to simply keep going. ….never stop, never give up, keep moving forward. Doing that has lead me/us to accomplishing goals we’ve set and will hopefully do the same for new goals.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started the Rough Cuts in 2013, but I’d been playing in other bands long before. We’ve come a long way is an understatement. I’m blown away I get to play in this band with these incredibly talented people who are also my best friends. We’ve overcome a lot of challenges by simply going for it. …booking the shows, getting out of bed and working to build our fanbase. …driving, playing night after night, struggling with finances and personal lives, ….all of it. We’ve learned that we CAN actually do it, even if it doesn’t seem possible, we are capable. I want the world to see that we are here, that we work our fingers to the bone because it is our passion, performing in the band is what we were born to do and we have something original and exciting to offer. Any person perusing their passion at 110% is deserving of respect in my book, and deserving of whatever success they desire.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, in Denver, I’d take them to Red Rocks of course. ….and/or to a Rough Cuts concert. 🙂 Other than that, the mountains, man. The mountains are the real gem in Colorado, sure there is good food and weed and booze, …but all the food and weed and booze is even more enjoyable after a day skiing or hiking or just enjoying the fresh air.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My bandmates, Michael Jochum, Susan Phelan and Lauren Michaels definitely deserve a shoutout! We all work hard and the 3 of them inspire me each time we perform, they’re just so damn good!
