We had the good fortune of connecting with Erik Vienneau and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erik, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve seen the impact that combining Eastern mindfulness practices with western psychology can make in my own life and wanted to offer that growth potential to others.

What should our readers know about your business?

AWAKE Mindful Living helps people who are tired of suffering create freedom and peace with whatever is going on in life. Depression, anxiety, panic, anger, self-doubt, fear and other challenging emotions can seem insurmountable. They’re not. It’s our instinct to run from painful emotions. But, what we resist… persists. The solution is to confidently – yet compassionately – go towards the pain. Sound scary? It can be difficult alone but it’s do-able together and it’s way better than letting the issues consume you! We will go beyond traditional talk therapy to work on a brain-body level to reduce your stress and gain more life satisfaction. Let’s collaborate to support you in making what seems unworkable, workable. Come transform confusion, fear and limitations into freedom, meaning and joy.

In addition to one-on-one counseling we offer monthly retreats that include mindfulness practice, yoga, live music, embodied movement and so much more. Our most grand offering yet is a full weekend outdoor wellness festival AWAKE Evergreen, Oct. 1-3 this year. Looking forward to re-uniting the tribe as COVID cools down a bit!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I live in Evergreen and there are some great spots to meet other like-minded folks (ie those into meditation/yoga/self-realization). I’d check out Taspen’s over in Conifer and Dandelion’s Cafe here in Evergreen. You also need to check out the Crystal Garden as their staff knows everything about energy work and what stones will make you feel great!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I’d love to thank my first meditation instructor Michael Gregory for getting me on the path to awakening using the vehicle of Buddhist Practice. From there it was off to Yoga Teacher Training at Samadhi Yoga in Denver. My main teacher there, Tina Porter, shared with me the heart of the yogic path that has influenced my journey of service. RR Shakti believed in me to produce our first outdoor, weekend long yoga and live music event, Yoga Rocks Mountain Fest back in 2009. Since then I founded Yoga Rocks the Park, Friday Night Yoga Club, Denver Chant Fest (with Dakini Ma) and of course now AWAKE!
