We had the good fortune of connecting with Lem Tingley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lem, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We are a community of like-minded individuals, families, schools, businesses and non-profits. We all want to live, and help other people live, a healthier, more sustainable, more self-sufficient lifestyle. We have built this community over the last 30 years through our employees, customers, our website, YouTube Channel, Facebook groups, community events, and charity work. We don’t just sell geodesic dome greenhouses, we make sure our customers are successful in growing fresh organic food in their greenhouse.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We fabricate and install geodesic greenhouse kits, and believe everyone should have a greenhouse garden where they can sustainably grow clean, healthy food all year round – no matter where they live. A quick scroll through our Blog, Google Reviews or our Facebook group (Growing Dome Enthusiasts) will give you a good sense of what we are about as a business. We pride ourselves on total customer satisfaction, building community and customer referrals. Most of our competitors don’t provide any support past the greenhouse itself, while we provide extensive content on year-round gardening inside our geodesic greenhouse, organic pest control, planting schedules, soil management, aquatic plants and more. We offer tours of our geodesic greenhouses in Golden and Pagosa Springs Colorado, and arrange tours of customer domes in other areas.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love Colorado, and there is no shortage of things to do in the state. When friends and family visit, we usually head straight to the mountains to ski, hike or bike. In Denver we love to go to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and grab a bite to eat in Larimer Square. We live in Golden, and love all the new restaurants that are popping up like Abejas and The Golden Mill. Growing Spaces is located in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. If you are in town to view our Growing Domes, we also recommend a visit to the world-famous Hot Springs. It is also known for its amazing fishing and hiking.   Our favorite restaurant there is the Alley House Grille.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Prior to owning and running Growing Spaces, my career was in manufacturing and quality. Eli Goldratt, Juran, Deming, Toyota Production System. Later in my career, I was more involved in Service Quality and building a strong Total Customer Experience. Now that I own my own business, I am inspired by Conscious Capitalism (John Mackey), Measure What Matters (John Doerr), The Effective Executive (Peter Drucker), The E-Myth (Michael Gerber). It is inspiring to build a business around our customers and our employees, not just pure profit.
