Meet Sheryl Cremeens | Certified Herbalist & Spiritual Guide

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheryl Cremeens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheryl, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
What does an herbalist do? If most people were asked that, I think they might say that an herbalist would grow some plants and give to people to help them. That is probably the general gist of what people think. Herbalism does have the main mission of helping people but not every herbalist is going to do it the same way. Herbalism has so many diverse paths and that is what people are unaware of.
Herbalism is wide ranging and herbalists have broad knowledge and talents. They not only see clients and work in clinics, they teach classes, write (books, magazine and newspaper articles, blogs, web content), make and sell herbal remedies or herbal crafts, run or work in an herb shop or natural food store, grow and sell live herbs, and work for an herb company. Herbalists even create herbal monographs and artwork.
I am a creative person and I love that there are so many avenues that I can use my knowledge and love of plants and herbs to use my creativity. There is not just one way to help people or to express myself in this field and there are so many different paths to explore and new things to learn.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a great love of plants and a want to help people heal and feel better. In my business, I am able to approach this in so many different ways that it keeps it fresh and creative. I see clients one-on-one in consultations. But I also educate people about herbalism, gardening, and holistic living by way of my writing for my blog, creating content on my YouTube channel, and other collaborations. I created and teach an herbalism course. I also create and sell herbal remedies. Then I have another path to help people and with that I provide spiritual guidance via intuitive Tarot readings.
What I really want people to know from my story and the beginnings of Colorado Herbalist is that it started after half a lifetime at age 49. There was a leap of faith, a change of lifestyle, and a firm decision that it was time to do what I knew in my heart I was meant to do. I didn’t listen to the people who said “No”, “You can’t do that,” or “You have to stay.” I am constantly learning, growing, and changing, and so is Colorado Herbalist. It is a beautiful thing. I want people to know their worth and that comes from within, not from others.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is so much in and around Denver for every taste and style! When my friends visit, I want to show them a little bit of everything (if that were even possible). The best place to showcase the beauty of the area is Red Rocks and while there you can learn about the bands that have played at the amphitheater too. I would also take my friends to the RiNo Art District to check out local artists, breweries, and food! One afternoon we would dress up for high tea at The Brown Palace, which has always impressed my friends. An evening at The Clocktower Cabaret for comedy, dance, and drinks is a must. The Denver Botanical Gardens and adjacent Cheesman Park, with its disturbing history, is a beautiful and relaxing day. And of course downtown Denver with 16th Street Mall and Larimer Square for shopping, food, and people is good to go to without definite plans and just see where you end up.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to Shoutout Lisa M. Gunshore, Buddhist Biohacker. She supported me and saw in me what I couldn’t yet see.
