We had the good fortune of connecting with Javier López and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Javier, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I mostly, always wanted to make money doing something I like.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It all started with the idea of starting a business in the graphic arts area, as that was what I studied in my country. “Design of Graphic Communication.” That was the title of the career.

In the beginning, I had the idea of starting a business as a web page programmer, but the destiny had something different for me.

I had a friend who was a photographer, and once I asked him to take some pictures for my resume, he told me that if I could, and at the same time asked me to accompany him to a couple of weddings and 15-year-old parties he would have in the next few days.

He knew I had photography knowledge, so I was told about my studies in my country, and he needed an assistant. That’s how I started working with him, and sometimes he had so much work, that he left myself in charge of events, I started learning and getting a lot of practice, that’s when I was born to take photographs, and my goal of being a web page programmer changed to being a social sales photographer.

There came a time when he didn’t contact me for any more events, so that’s when I made the decision to start my own business as a photographer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok, I live in Denver Colorado, and I love Mexican food, so the first thing will be to take my friend to a great Mexican restaurant, other thing I love are the museums and the public parks, in Denver we have some of the greatest art and natural science museums in the country, other place we can hang out is in the city park, it’s a beautiful area. At the end of the day we can go to a night club, I am a salsa dance lover!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, I have a large list of people I would like to thank, I prefer to just say, “Thank you so much to all those people who contributed in the educational and inspiration process that led me to make the decision to start a business in the field of photography.”
