We had the good fortune of connecting with Ian Glass and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Follow your passion

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a photographer and cinematographer. I really love working with people, getting to know their story, and then finding they right way to tell it. Everyone has something to share and express. I feel lucky that I get to help people with that.

I feel like a got to where I am with hard work, maintaining a positive attitude (even in non-ideal situations), and luck. I was fortunate to have met some of my heroes along the way and worked for them for a number of years, learning the tools of the trade.

One of the biggest lessons in this industry (and I guess in life) is always be a good person. Everyone is in this together, whether it’s a production or waiting in line at the grocery store. Be the kind of person you want to work with (and be in the world). That goes such a long way. Learning minute details about the industry will come in time, your positive attitude is what stands out. That and never stop learning. A question I am trying to be better about asking myself at night is, “What did a learn today?” followed by “What can I learn tomorrow?”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Assuming we are in Boulder and it’s the summer (early June-ish)…

– We’d start off at 3am by heading up to the Indian Peaks for a ski objective.
– Ideally ripping skins and dropping off a peak just after sunrise as the conditions warm up.
– Get back to Boulder before noon
– Hop on bicycles and pedal down to the Creek to take some 3min interval ice baths
– Warm up in the sun and then bike to the Mtn Sun (if it opens again) for a burger and beer
– Maybe power nap in a sunny field for 30min up at Chautauqua
– Rally and then scramble the 2nd flat iron
– Finish before 5pm, grab a quick dinner
– Head to Red Rocks for a show
– Dance
– Sleep the entire next day

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and all of the mentors I have met along the way.
