Meet Whitley Ambrose | Photographer & Social Media Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitley Ambrose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was working in the manufacturing and logistics world for the past 5 years. I loved what I did in the corporate world, but I, unfortunately, lost my job during Covid. I was unemployed for 3 weeks and stumbled upon social media management. I had picked up a camera for the 1st time in years April 2020, and took that and ran with it.
I have been amazed at the opportunity I was given to take the jump into full-time freelance work. Haven’t looked back since!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love my style of photography because it is VIBRANT! I love color, I love life so much and I am blessed to have a career where I get to showcase others’ joy. I am excited about the chance to work with so many amazing people from all over the world. It has not been all daisy and rainbows, that’s for sure! I still sometimes feel lost and in foreign territory. I have been able to overcome this with PRACTICE and asking QUESTIONS. So many times we “creatives” can feel inferior when we compare, especially with editing styles and skill levels. What I have found is that collaboration is better than competition. Finding community is crucial for everyone, and I love that when you find the right ones there are people willing to help educate and teach!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friends were coming into town, I would head us down south to Manitou springs! I love mountain towns and showing off Garden of the Gods is a must! To eat; Breckenridge Brewery is a good go-to, or Black Haus Tavern in Parker is my favorite spot for a solid old fashion.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would attribute my “success” or development to the immense amount of support and encouragement I have received from family and friends. When I have doubted myself, they are the first to reassure me that I am in the right field in pursuing my passion!
