We had the good fortune of connecting with Christie Saxer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christie, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I know to always keep going because failure is not an option for me. I’m very driven and like to think that I get that trait from my mother. She’s always taught me to never quit or give up when things get hard. I watched her overcome some extremely difficult obstacles throughout my life with grace and perseverance; so I always try to use her as a model to follow when things get tough and I remember that she always figured out a way so I try to do the same.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is Saxer Business Solutions. We provide: account reconciliation, A/P, A/R, Data Entry, Financial Reports, Job Cost Accounting, Organization, Payroll, Payroll Tax, Quality Control, Sales Tax, and Tax Form Prep for small to medium sized businesses. What sets us apart from others is the amount of expertise we provide along with the pride we take in being good, honest bookkeepers. Right now I’m most excited about my newest goal for 2022; which is to get 2 new clients a month! It’s a huge goal, but I network a lot so I think it can be done! I got to where I am with hard work and consistency. It has been difficult trying to build a business from the ground up in a place where I knew no one, but I’ve been making it happen. Whenever a problem arises I try to focus less on the problem and more on the solution so that I overcome my obstacles quickly and with as little stress as possible. Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are: Always stand up for yourself. Establishing boundaries is not being mean to anyone other than yourself and it’s also extremely necessary so that people know how to treat and respect you. And anything difficult is only temporary.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m still pretty new here myself so I’d probably google something new and fun for us to do! But I love going to The Grizzly Rose and dancing, checking out a game, I always take people to Lookout Mountain. But mostly we always find something new and cool to do! That’s always fun because it’s usually new for me as well!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d have to give a special shoutout to one of my best friends, Maranda. We have been friends for 23 years and we have been through the good, the bad and the ugly together and she has been, by far, my biggest supporter and cheerleader! I remember talking to her on FaceTime before I decided to take the leap and go in to business for myself and she said that she thought I should just go out on my own and open my own business. I thought she was crazy! But then the day happened where I couldn’t take it at my place of employment any longer and I called her and told her that I quit my job and I was going to do it! I was going to go in to business for myself and that I was terrified. She told me it would all be okay and that she knew that I could do this and do it well! And it’s been a journey ever since!
