Meet SixFootah The Poet | Spoken Word Artist and Motivational Speaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with SixFootah The Poet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SixFootah, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
That I must always show up if I really want to succeed in life. And what I mean by show up I must always show up for myself in order to show up for others. The only way to do that is to be disciplined enough to take time out for myself. In order to always show up 100 percent.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Spoken word artist and motivational speaker. My six foot stature and demanding voice is what sets me apart, and the fact that I am willing to address topics others avoid. I am most excited about seeing how far I will go. I got here by never giving up when times get hard. I learned life is going to happen no matter what, I just have to keep my eyes on the prize, stay focused on my goals, and get up everyday and show up for myself daily. I want the world to know that I am here to make a difference and in not going anywhere. My mission is to add value to our youth and to allow my mothers voice be heard against tobacco.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
More than likely I would have a poetry event and would her them to. We will go to the city of San Francisco to Pier 39 and walk around. Do a little shopping in downtown San Francisco. We will ride the B.A.R.T train and Ferry. We will go to have some drinks at Lukas lounge in downtown Oakland. We would spend the day at Lake Merritt with some pre packed food and music on a blanket. We would spend a day in Berkeley for a hike and then down to the Marina and go to Hana Japan. We definitely have to go to Allen Temple to see the church every child grew up thinking was Disney Land.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes, is it okay to pick more then one? I first would dedicate it to my mom (who passed away Nov 2019) for always being my support system. Second my two children for giving me a reason to go harder everyday. Third Khoree The Poet, for believing in me and opening the door by taking a chance on me years ago that sparked something in me that I never knew I had in me.
