We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison KT and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Choosing to heal my mindset has been the single most important factor behind my success, and thus the success of my brand (and honestly, I’d say it’s a non-negotiable for folks who want long-term sustainable success in general).
I got certified as a coach in 2018 and thought that they clients would just magically come pouring in. I didn’t realize till almost 2 years later that my mindset was actually driving them away.
I said things like “I want clients! I want more money!” but deep down I was scared of getting a bunch of clients and burning out, or not being able to actually help them and ruining my reputation. I didn’t trust myself with money and had limiting beliefs that it would bring scrutiny and be taken from me.
So, while I said (and honestly thought) I wanted these things, deep down inside they didn’t feel safe to me, so I fell into busy work and comparison mode. I “planned”, “researched”, and “worked on figuring out” but never actually did anything that would get me clients.
Once I started looking at and re-writing my limiting beliefs about being an entrepreneur, once I realized that it could be safe and fun, then things started turning around in my business. Mindset work isn’t always a walk in the park (and I HIGHLY recommend hiring support for it – a therapist, a mindset coach, a healer, etc) but it is so, so, so necessary to creating lasting success in your business.
What should our readers know about your business?
PoppyLead is a spiritual business mindset coaching company run by author, energy expert, and certified coach Allison Krawiec-Thayer, CPC, ELI-MP.
Having a big, loving, compassionate heart and tons of empathy can be a great asset for a business owner…. except for when it’s not.
I was a life-long people-pleaser and conflict avoider who wanted to be liked and make everyone happy. It felt good to make people laugh and to be “nice” and “polite.” I was chiefly concerned with how everyone else was perceiving me.
Too much concern with what others think is a business-killer. I learned that the hard way. So now my work through PoppyLead is dedicated to helping those heart-centered healers, empathic entrepreneurs, and conscious coaches of the world learn to protect their energy, set boundaries, and truly lead their dream-come-true businesses in a way that feels like second nature.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m obsessed with the Retrograde in downtown Denver. It’s a swanky little joint located through a freezer at the Frozen Matter ice cream shop. Flip the light switch and they come to take your name. An extremely chill ambience and delicious cocktails await. For grabbing dinner beforehand, we’d definitely hit Colorado Campfire right down the block.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m grateful to a number of wonderful coaches and entrepreneurial friends who have held the vision of my success when I was ready to let it go. Particularly Jackie Simek and the Multiplier gals, Alyssa Hammond and the Spiritual Fempreneurs, Carolyn Stine and the Expressed gals, Emily Merrell and Six Degrees Society, and Kristy Black – my DM confidante-hype woman.
