We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicholas Meighen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicholas, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
As someone with a passion for nature, I am always inspired by the uniqueness. No two places are the same, no matter where you go. There are so many opportunities to find something new, from popular destinations to hidden gems. As a photographer, I find joy in being able to capture and share the aspects of nature that inspire me and catch my attention. The wildness and awe of the outdoors never ceases to amaze me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most excited to combine two of my favorite passions and combine them into one; photography and travelling! I love to travel and see new sights, especially wildlife and nature. I also love to capture what catches my eye, and to be able to share that with the world is amazing! So far, my only struggle is being able to travel to capture far away destinations. Covid and work have restricted me heavily on that end. To overcome this, I travel locally. Being based out of Colorado makes finding many unique sights very easy! If I had one thing to tell the world about my photography, enjoy it and use it as an outlet to bask in raw images of your world! My main goal is to spread the enjoyment and beauty of our world to everyone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If someone were to visit me and wanted a taste of everything, I’d begin by visiting downtown Denver. There are plenty of amazing restaurants and sights to see unique to the city. From there, I would go to Rocky Mountain National Park for a taste of the wild, intense Rocky Mountain landscape. I believe this park is the best and most accessible location to experience the mountains and all it has to offer. From there, I would begin a loop towards the west, visiting many mountain towns on the way. Colorado has a lot of unique landscapes all over, from alpine mountains to mountain tundra exceeding 13,000 feet, to high desert in the south, and much more. The local breweries are definitely an experience you want to have as well. One loop around all of Colorado, visiting cities, breweries, mountain towns, parks and landmarks would give the overall experience of what Colorado has to offer. It truly is a beautiful and unique state that everyone needs to experience at least once in their lifetime.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I could shout out anyone, it would be my oldest sister, Caroline! She is currently a wedding photographer in Ohio and inspired me to make the jump to buy my first camera and get to my new hobby. I believe without her help I would not have decided to pursue photography!
