Decision Makers Series: avoiding decision fatigue by adopting effective habits


There’s a ton of research around how setting habits can help us conserve energy because it reduces the number of decisions we have to make in a day. However, not all habits are created equal and so we’ve asked our community to tell us about the habits they have been most effective for them.

The work ethic that I learned from my parents, my mentors, and my competitive nature. I understand that showing up is half the battle as most people take no for an answer and just stop pursuing what is important. Eating healthy and clean, regular exercise, plenty of rest. Don’t save things to do later, do them now. Listening more than speaking. Dig in and get facts prior to making a decision. When someone is in front of you, give them your undivided attention. Let people show you who they are. Read more>>

The habits that I feel helped me succeed are asking for what I want unabashedly, saying yes to experimenting and to having new experiences, taking rejection as redirection rather than as something personal or discouraging, using feelings of discouragement as motivation to restart, and thinking in terms of how to carve out my own path rather than in terms of how to follow directly in the footsteps of anyone else.
