Meet 3lack | Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with 3lack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi 3lack, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I feel like risk taking is the center of any breakthrough. Those that take risks get ahead and lead the pack, while those that don’t have to sit with regret and watch others keep moving forward. Taking risks has elevated my life in multiple ways. I’ve learned from my experiences (both successes and failures). Without taking risks I don’t know where I would be but I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be who I am today. Especially taking risks and being vulnerable with my expression in my music.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets my art apart from others is the fact that I put ME in all of my music. My experiences, my perspective and my voice. I’m most excited about the journey that music has led me on. It’s allowed me to explore myself in ways that I couldn’t of without it. It was never easy, even to this day. I’ve overcome my challenges by keeping an open mind to the world and feedback from those closest to me. As well as learning constantly and keeping faith in GOD. The most valuable lesson that I’ve learned so far is to believe in myself and keep pushing forward even if it feels like I’m at a dead end. I want the world to know that I’m here, that I’m here to spread love and positive energy and that the world will know my name when it’s all said and done.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My first recommendation would be to check out TeaLee’s tea shop on 22nd and Weston st. This black owned business has played a huge role in my evolution as a person, the energy in this place is unmatched. I always leave inspired. Next, I would recommend that they stop through UrbanityGallery on 29th and Fairfax in park hill, this beautiful spot has art and culture in a fresh new way that hasn’t been seen. Last but not least on my list of places is the UrbanityLive studio, this is more then a recording studio. It’s an Oasis, a break away from life, a hideaway spot that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and inspired to go out and conquer the world.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my team at Urbanity for always having my back and being honest with me so that I can keep growing. My big brother/Manager James Roy II for taking a chance and believing in me. Also, Zanib and MTG for showing me a new way to approach my career as an artist.
