We had the good fortune of connecting with A A Ron Ogden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi A A Ron, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I love facing fear! It is a challenge that often triggers discomfort, irrational thoughts, and even paralysis, feelings I have experiences as I have subjected myself to life-threatening and business developing risks. I frequently engage in rock climbing and canyoneering and I am extremely afraid of heights. Observers might assume I don’t experience fear as I move around the rock, but what they don’t see is the years of developing a mental process that allows me to maintain focus and enter a state of “flow.” This approach allows me to manage my fear, so it doesn’t hinder my performance, even though the fear is still present.
I have discovered the key to overcoming fear lies in embracing risk, which inherently involves uncertainty, potential loss, and factors beyond our control. The more I have taken calculated risks the more I have become intolerant to its effects. Much like rock climbing, where the thrill of reaching the top is worth the fear, I employ the same mental strategies I use to overcome my fear of heights to deal with the unpredictability of financial ventures and other risky elements of life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I don’t like calling myself a Personal Trainer, even though that’s how most people identify my role. Instead, I prefer health and wellness coach which I have been practicing for 25 years, focusing on physical and mental wellness, reaching greater potentials, and using adventure outings as a passionate motive to create change. My adventure outings have developed a unique community. I call it the Adventure Perspective. My clients are cherished friends who have joined me on countless adventures like whitewater rafting, backpacking, canyoneering, and many other life enhancing experiences. These activities give purpose to using your health instead of it just being a medal to hang around your neck.

The journey to where I am today wasn’t easy. It required trial and error, persistence, and a passion for creating unique experiences. I never envisioned a traditional desk job for myself; instead, I wanted to live life as an adventure. Before I got married and started a family, I was a bum—Becoming an Ultimate Master of creating joy. I lived with just a backpack, exploring remote parts of the country. Now, I use that same adventurous spirit to build a business that helps others find joy and health.

The key lessons I’ve learned along the way are to embrace your passions and not let fear or guilt hold you back. Many people pursue health with feelings of guilt or shame, but I believe it should be about pursuing what makes you feel good, look good, and live the life you want. It’s not about money; it’s about creating a life filled with experiences that bring joy.

I’m proud of the business I’ve built because it reflects my values and passions. I get to teach people how to improve their health, and then we embark on adventure trips together. It’s more than a job—it’s a lifestyle that I love.
