We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Requist and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Beth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had been working for a few different online business coaches for several years and eventually landed on what I really enjoy – design. Having designed numerous sales pages for their offers, I began to feel like I wanted to get into web design and really wanted to work for myself. I had a life altering injury almost 15 years ago that resulted in paralysis and chronic pain, so I really wanted to have a job that I could work from the comfort of my own home. Once I knew I wanted to do design, I began taking classes and doing friends websites on the side. It has finally evolved into a full time business for me!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What really sets me apart from others is my passion for building bold brands and websites for the quiet, awkward, shy girls. As someone who is more quiet, but loves bold fun colors, I love the idea of building brands that do the talking for them, so they don’t have to. Their business can become center stage without them having to be the center of attention.

I’ve gotten to where I am today professionally by lots of HARD work and determination. I’d say going through a life altering accident and having to pull through that really gave me grit that has transferred over to my business. I am so determined to succeed and while there are certainly moments where I question if I should be doing this, there are far more positive, rewarding moments.

I want the world to know that no matter your age, or circumstance, you can really can make your dreams come true. And life is far too short to be stuck in a job that you don’t enjoy, so take the leap.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Luckily I live in a mountain town so there is lots to do! I have always been more of a ‘earn your beers’ kind of girl. So I would either take her skiing or golfing, then we would sit out on a patio and have some apps. We would then take our dogs out to the park to run and play. We would then go to our local fav spot, Denos, and socialize with the locals and have a drink.

Anything in nature is my idea of fun, followed by some good apps and a drink.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It is hard for me to pinpoint just one person. All of my family and close friends have been such a huge support. From the moment I broke my back and became paralyzed to building my own business. I truly would not be where I am today without them. They have laughed with me, cried with me, been to PT with me, visited the hospital, referred me to friends. You name it.
