We had the good fortune of connecting with Addison Farrier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Addison, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started in the body modification industry a bit late in life by “conventional” standards (if that exists in the tattoo industry). Although I had always been interested/involved in the industry in some capacity I came to a point in my life where I wanted more: more freedom, creativity, connection, and community. I had to really look inward and decide that I was ready for the hard work that it took to get to that point, and I knew I was ready.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been interested in body modification and specifically tattooing since I was a teenager. Life took me to many other different places over the years and away from tattooing as a career.

Many people describe themselves as an “old soul,” but I do not feel that way at all. I feel like a “new soul.” Every time I see something new and interesting I jump at the chance to try it. This has lead me to archaeology, musical theatre, the health food industry, the beauty industry, and more.

I always felt called to tattooing as a creative field, but also the intense importance of it as a permanent (yet impermanent in the long term) type of art. For nearly a decade it was inaccessible to me and perhaps for good reason. I often find myself wishing I had started a decade ago, but I know that my experience in marketing, business management, customer service, self motivation, and research has made me the well rounded artist that I am today. For that I am grateful for the path that led me here.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I LOVE Denver.

Growing up in Wyoming I often romanticized the idea of moving far away to some sprawling city, but now that I’m in my 30’s I know that Denver is home.

If my best friend was visiting I would take them to all of the great Denver museums. The Denver Art Museum, Clyfford Still Museum, and (my personal favorite) the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

I would absolutely make some time for my favorite fine dining restaurants like Uchi, Rioja, and Guard and Grace, but would also include some favorite “holes in the wall” like Northside Tavern (further North in Broomfield) or the Brutal Poodle.

Of course we would have to make time to enjoy any of the amazing outdoor features and hikes we have near Denver, and moments to relax at my favorite hot springs like Avalanche Ranch or Strawberry Hot Springs.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My partner, Carl. Carl dove into the tattoo industry head first and paved the way for me to as well. When he told me he wanted to tattoo we made a deal that I would go back to retail to supply us with the necessary stability and benefits until he was ready to guide me through the industry as well. Carl has made this career accessible and safe for me. I am constantly in awe of his drive and talent, and I’m grateful to get to do this alongside the love of my life.
