We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrian Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrian, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Entrepreneurs and business owners, in general, MUST take risks in order to grow a sustainable business. That being said, the risk/reward equation must be looked at closely BEFORE making a decision that can sabotage everything you’re put in place. You must ask yourself, “can I afford to lose in this situation?” If the answer is “no,” perhaps, another path might be the more sensible one. My biggest risk was starting my business in the first place. I was successful at my career, but it didn’t fit my image of myself, nor did it accommodate the work-life balance that I knew I wanted.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve been a sales trainer and consultant for decades and I am extremely proud and excited about what my clients accomplish during and after we work together. It’s not about ME, it’s all about them, and together we create magic.
It hasn’t been an easy road, but I LOVE what I do, and so the challenges of being a solopreneur back when having a home office meant you had a hobby and not a company, were tough.
I am PASSIONATE and PERSISTENT and have more than my fair share of GRIT, and I’m confident that these three things have helped me in the toughest of times.
I get and stay close to my clients and set the bar high, for me and for them, and am committed to seeing the work through to a successful conclusion. The proof is in the fact that many of my clients work with me for many years, always looking to retain their skills and improve on their successes.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have lived in New York for most of my life and my life in Denver is new. If you come to New York I can (and will!) show you the best time. Theater, museums, the best restaurants and bars, walks through every neighborhood, parks, and more await you and I am nothing if not an enthusiastic “tour guide.”
Still, Red Rocks is splendid, the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge is a treasure, Stanley Market, the River North Art District, and Union Station are must do’s according to this Denver newbie.
As for food, I’m a vegan and Vital Root, and Root Down are cool.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I couldn’t have grown my businesses alone! The support and encouragement of my family has always been paramount, and there have been so many other individuals over all of my years in business that I fear by mentioning a few, I would leave someone out.
My networking community “Adrian’s Network” has been incredible, not only for me, but for our hundreds of members that know they can rely on the support of their fellow members.
I also want to recognize my Mom. She’s gone now, but she was a strong woman, and even when she didn’t agree with my chosen path, was a huge cheerleader for my success.
