Meet Alex Jacobson | Entrepreneur, Real Estate Broker/Investor and New Earth Manifestor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Jacobson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work to live dont live to work!,
If you dont enjoy your life, then what are you working so hard for? I worked at Wal-Mart as an Assistant manager right out of collage. I thought I hit the jack pot I was paid handsomely for a 23yr old. Then my work week went from 40 to 50 hours then 60 hours a week. Working nights, I was miserable. i left because I had too, my mental and physical health were deteriteting. I thought I was going to loose my house, car and life because I was spending more and now didn’t have income.
I took a part time job, working on a farm, I made enough to pay the bills and began focusing on enjoyin gmy life and making up for two years lost. After about 3 months it hit me. I was really happy, I was doing all the things I did before, eating out, paying bills on time. I wasn’t saving as much but my LIFE to WORK balance was shifted. It changed my perspective. I realized a career isn’t worth a dime if you cant enjoy yourself. First you will be miserable, and you will miss new opportunities or even the promotion you wanted. Do something that makes you happy enjoy your work and really get to enjoy your life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The most recent lesson: Confidence. I started off in real estate 4 years ago. I was and in many way still a skinny (130lb) immature 23 yr old in a still skinny 34 yr old’s body. I thought, how is anyone going to trust e with the biggest purchase/decision of their life? ANd guess what that came across. So I wrote down my sales and income goals every morning for a year 25 times, until almost a year latter I was selling 1M+ homes actualizing my dreams. It didnt come overnight and it sure wasn’t easy. After that I realized I could do anything if I just believed, really believed in my mind, sola and body that I could do this. I still write my goals down, everywhere:: Usually first onto my notes app on my phone then to my notebook then to my calendar where I obsess over it. Writing goals for 3,6,12 months away. You will amaze yourself what when you flip that calendar page and see that goal you forgot you wrote down happened. It will give you confidence, it will make you believe. Just do it trust me. Now, I try to dream bigger, because the mind of today does not appreciate he enormity of the goals I can and willa chive tomorrow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to my home. I thin kyou space is really important. For me it needs to be clean, inviting and have a well stocked fridge. Feed people, break bread. they will remember you more than taking them out to a nice meal. You have to know your audience, think about what they like, you dont have to replicate it too but I have a good time if my company is having a good time. Its contagious. You might discover some stuff you didnt know you liked. For me it was word games and drum circles.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A few Books but mostly positive people accomplishing goals I was only dreaming of.
Books: Mans search for Meaning by Viktor Frankel. This book will first make you feel better about your life, then it will make you realize your mindset will get you through the most difficult situations. Hate your job? Yea been there. Survive the Holicost, If one person can do it then you might be able to get through that night shift after all. The book the Go-Giver by Bob Burg. Life, sales, promotions, getting the girl, its all about value. Value is not an even exchange. Give more than you think its worth, give more than you ought to give, then give some more. The exchange of value is not equal and if you think it will be life will be a disappointment. give with no intention to receive and you receive the whole world.
