We had the good fortune of connecting with Robby Trefethren and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robby, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The greatest habit that has played an instrumental piece towards my success has been committing to the idea of personal growth. For the last decade, I’ve consistently read 30 minutes per day every single day. This has allowed me to dive into subjects from investing to health, business to psychology, politics to spirituality, economics to self help, and countless others. This reading time serves as my contemplation time as well. It’s the time that I use to brainstorm business opportunities and ideas and I begin to find solutions about what comes next. By constantly reading and mastering a variety of subjects, I feel adequately prepared to enter the arena in nearly any situation. This has helped instill great confidence in myself despite working in a field where I can be thrown curve balls at any moment. It is by diving into this variety of genres that I began to see the common threads between successful people across a wide range of industries. I was able to pick up facts like this: eating healthier has more to do with what you say no to than what you say yes to. Similarly, financial success often comes from what you say no to more than what you say yes to. In weight training, it’s common knowledge that resistance builds strength. What’s interesting is that when I read a large number of self-help books, I noticed that people’s greatest successes came shortly after some of their greatest failures. It is here that I realized that resistance and austerity is what gives people the mental fortitude to create some of their greatest successes. Indeed resistance does build strength, both physically and mentally. It is through consistent dedication to reading each day that I have not only learned an immense amount over a variety of subjects but also conditioned myself to have the mental fortitude that I so often read about.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am co-owner of Hatch Coaching. Our business was built on the idea of redefining the way people treat people. Our primary clients and customers are within the real estate/mortgage industries. Essentially we create products and services that help real estate teams convert more leads, and build more efficient and effective businesses. What makes us stand out compared to our competition is our willingness to give, give, and give. We have never spent a dollar on marketing, and our company will bring about $3,000,000 in revenue this year alone (nearly three times as much as last year). We have learned that by giving, loving and caring for your clients, you create massive loyalty for your brand and business. This continues to be our biggest advantage because we don’t have to advertise ourselves. Our cheerleaders do it for us.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I live in Fargo, ND. Here is the Fargo must do list: 1) Dinner at Rosewild (Michelin Star Chef at Fargo prices)
2) You need to stay at the Jasper Hotel (brand new bougie hotel in the heart of downtown Fargo)
3) Try the fried cheesy pickles at the Toasted Frog (Featured on HGTV)
4) Eat a burger at JL Beers (Best Burger in the midwest- yes, shots fired)
5) Hit me up to get into the hidden Fargo Speak Easy
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Undoubtedly the honorable Mr. Erik Hatch. Long story short, he took a chance on me 8 years ago, and hired me onto his real estate team. This was despite me dropping multiple F bombs in my interview. Today, Erik and I are business partners in numerous ventures, and he undoubtedly deserves a shout out.
