We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda DiMarco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Understanding my audience, while staying true to my authenticity. Blending, ebbing, & flowing between what the audience wants to see, hear, learn, & feel. and what I actually feel is right and aligns well with my brand. I’m a big believer in the fact that people are drawn to you and your energy, so you must protect it and trust your inner knowing. Feedback & opinions are necessary when running a business that relies on the consumer, but trusting your vision & what your intuition is telling you is equally as important. So it’s a dance, and I think leading with my intuition while being open to what my consumer has to say has probably been the biggest factor in business for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been a lover of words, so when I was 17 years old I started a blog. It started off as a fashion page where I’d post my outfit of the days and how to cut clothes to look cuter. It quickly evolved into a place where I dumped my daily journal entries & poems. As I got older and delved deeper into my other love — wellness — I decided that I wanted to reach a wider audience through the medium of Podcasting. I created a podcast centered around womanhood, wellness, & self-growth, and what I realized was that people loved my honest, candid nature. I’ve never been a bullshitter — my body literally rejects anything other than the truth. So for a while I deemed myself a podcaster, blogger, & social media micro influencer who was sharing her own journey with wellness & figuring out what lifestyle worked best for her — in the most honest way.

Then I got pregnant. I realized that while I loved what I was currently doing, I needed to start making money. I got my personal trainers certificate & continued with my side hustles, securing a few brand deals here and there, but nothing crazy. I told myself that when I was able to work out again postpartum, I would get a fitness instructing job. However, when the time came, I knew it wasn’t my calling. I knew I was meant to do something more.

In March of 2021 I decided to enroll in holistic health coaching school online. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I knew if I wanted to help other women figure out how to lead a sustainably healthy lifestyle, I needed to get certified. And then it hit me. In April, I went for a run while we were visiting family in Florida and literally created the idea for The Pretty Naked.

For so long I was floating from one platform to the other. Blogging. Instagram. Podcasting. Youtube. TikTok. You name it, I was on it. And for so long I was putting in hours and hours of content creation, editing, producing, brainstorming, marketing, & admin work with zero monetary compensation. And so suddenly, it hit me. I needed to streamline.

I needed to find a way to marry all of these different platforms with my love of wellness & self care and thus, The Pretty Naked was born — a subscription-based platform for women who are passionate about self-growth & wellness. My whole aim is to make self care social through our virtual wellness events, blog posts, recipes, monthly workout plans, free health coaching calls, & community-focused space. I wanted to create a hub for women who were on their own health & wellness journeys to rally around one another, continue to learn & grow through our wellness resources, & connect with other like-minded women because let’s face it — health journey’s can be so damn lonely.

Not anymore. The Pretty Naked allows you to socialize and stay true to your health goals by bringing resources & self care to you, in the comfort of your own home.

Was it easy? Yes and no. The brand idea vs. what is now is completely different and obviously, there’s a lot of trial, error, blood, sweat, & tears that went into that. So, no building a business concept into a reality isn’t easy. However, showing up & putting in the work to constant evolve and make The Pretty Naked the best wellness community out there IS easy because it’s my passion, and I believe in its potential.

In my opinion, it’s not about whether or not it’s going to be hard, it’s about whether or not you have the love and passion for it to fuel the drive that it needs to be successful. And knowing that the road to success is often long and difficult and in my case, never ending, lol.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ok — let’s say my friend is in town and I’m picking her up from the airport. We’d head straight to Avanti for some rooftop drinks & an early dinner and go back home to have an early night. The next day, we’d hit up either Hunter Bay Coffee or Sweet Bloom Coffee for some lattes & breakfast. We’d probably head into Boulder for the day & drive up to Lost Gulch to check out the gorgeous winter views. If it’s summer, we’re hiking Chataqua & if it’s winter, we’re bundling up and admiring the views from the base. Next, we’d head to Wonder in Boulder to grab a green juice. After that we’d walk down Pearl Street & window shop. We’d definitely head back into Denver & grab lunch at either True Foods, Just Be Kitchen, or Whole Sol. Then we’d drive to Wash Park and if it’s summer, we’re having a park hang & if it’s winter, we’re going for a leisurely walk. We’d probably head back home to get cleaned up & ready and then head into Denver again for some dinner. Two options here: Root Down in Lohi followed by some vegan ice cream at Little Man OR sushi at Matsuhisa in Cherry Creek followed by some ice cream at Heaven Creamery. The next day I’d take them to a Barry’s Bootcamp class and then drive to either Stanley Marketplace or The Source Hotel & Marketplace to walk around, grab a bite to eat, & perhaps grab some cool finds. Lastly, I’d take them to Red Rocks to check out the scene because come on, it’s just a Denver custom.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think it’s a bit redundant to open a book & see the author thank their partner or spouse, but if I’m being 100% honest, the person I would have to thank would be my partner, too. My fiancé and I have a 16 month old, & I truthfully wouldn’t be able to physically (or mentally) do half of the things I’ve done for The Pretty Naked or with my health coaching clients if I didn’t have a teammate who stepped in to be the caretaker while simultaneously rooting me on. He’s also a huge believer in the brand, & keeps me focused on the potential of it in moments where I feel defeated — because as a business owner, there are a lot of those moments.

Other than him, I would say my social media audience, Pretty Naked members, podcast listeners, & 1-1 clients — without them I wouldn’t be able to put my purpose out into the world.
