Meet Amanda Schaller | Family Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Schaller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Photography has been my passion for years and years. Once I became a mom myself I often wanted pictures of my kids and I found it very expensive and stressful to find a photographer. During COVID I was inspired to take my kids own pictures and then my friends children’s pictures. It grew from there! It’s nerve-wracking to take the leap and follow your dream but it’s been so much fun and I have adored working with each of my clients and their sweet families!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Mom to three young children plus a daycare provider, I have over two decades (making myself feel old here!) of childcare experience. I never get stressed if a little one is having a hard time warming up during a session. I love to work with families to capture this moment of time for their families. I adore doing newborn photos! Newborns are the sweetest and I can never get enough of their sweet poses and wraps. I know family photos can be stressful (especially for all the moms out there!) and I strive to make everyone as relaxed as possible. My studio is attached to a huge playroom and I encourage the kids to play between takes. I also adore holidays and look forward to my holiday minis each year, especially at Christmas time! There are so many choices when it comes to photographers and I truly appreciate each client who chooses to use me to help capture their family’s story!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we’d head to to the mountains. I’d take them to see lake Dillon and go kayaking and hiking. Then we’d go to Outer Range and enjoy chicken from the restaurant inside; Bird Call. The next day we’d head to the Breckenridge Adventure Park and enjoy the mountain coaster and Alpine slide as well as explore the town. Once back in Denver we’d go to Elitches and the Nature and Science museum. Another day we’d go to Castle Rock Canyon and explore and then go eat at 212 pizza! Shout-out to all the restaurants that have both gluten free and dairy free options for those of us with food allergies! Later, a Colorado springs day to visit the zoo and Garden of the Gods would also be in order. I’d enjoy a concert at Red Rocks and a night out at Pindustry. We’d wrap it up with either a nuggets, AVS or Rockies game!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so blessed to have the best friends ever and a supportive family! When I wanted to turn my photography hobby into a true business but was nervous about the leap, I had several close friends who strongly encouraged me to go for it and that I could do it. Their support meant the world to me and gave me the confidence to go for my dream and launch my official business.
