We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Kenendy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, what do you attribute your success to?
Persistence. The driving force behind becoming a division I athlete, becoming a doctor and currently writing my own book is persistence. My journey wasn’t pretty and there were multiple days that all I wanted to do was roll over and listen to the little voice that told me that I couldn’t. Showing up for myself, my future and my dreams is what built my success and is continuing to do so. One of the biggest themes I see when looking at individuals who I respect is that their success didn’t happen overnight. No matter how much doubt persists with any of my endeavors I push through to come out on the other side a better version of myself. Showing up for yourself is not only the most important thing you can do for yourself but also how you show yourself respect.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In my current position I am an associate doctor for one of the most successful chiropractic offices in Colorado. Going through school to earn my doctorate I had a drive to own and run my own business. However, as many of you know, the more you learn about running a business the more you realize there is so much that you don’t know. As of now I am learning all the tools I need in order to be ready to go full blast when the time for me to branch out and start my own business. I have found without the proper mentors, support and action plan it can make your climb that much harder. While I am expanding my knowledge in the chiropractic business I am also writing a book. I felt there was a lack of knowledge around the reality of pregnancy for many women. I wanted women to feel that they are not alone as well as supplying them with informational knowledge behind it to empower women to make informed decisions. With the proper support and determination it gave me the opportunity to follow my dreams. The climb and the journey to get to where I am was not a cake walk but had been so worth it. I know I have so much to learn and a lot more work to put into my future but am excited for the journey!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Fort Collins is such a fun town to explore making it hard to pick and choose only a few things to highlight!!! My go to would definitely involve a trip up to Horsetooth soaking up the sun on the reservoir either renting a boat or some paddleboards. Old Town is definitely a fun place to shop during the day or enjoy the nightlife as the sun goes down. I make sure to hit the Union for dinner then stop by the Churn for dessert when showing off old town. Other local favorites would be hiking around Poudre Canyon or exploring all the amazing and fresh food options around town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Impact Chiropractic deserves my shoutout! This business is full of powerful and driven badass women on a mission to make an impact in the Fort Collins community. I have learned so much from all the women in the office and they have pushed me to grow in so many ways. Over the last year they have been my support system in allowing me to pursue my dreams.
