We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Meurtas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
None of the artists with TTnT Studios are actually ‘signed artists’. In fact, we haven’t offered out a single contract since 2019. Instead, every artist we have stays with us out of loyalty. We hold tight to the concept of family and every artist we have is our family.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m highly diverse in the mediums; ranging from hands on art (as a tattoo artist and designer) to audio and visual (as a music artist and model). Always trying to challenge myself, I’m highly versatile in my style; since I’m always moving onto a new style once the old is mastered. Lately, I’ve been really digging the designs I’ve been putting out for the TTnT clothing line/online store Street Royals Apparel (www.streetroyalsapparel.com).
Getting where I am today wasn’t easy, for sure. Like everyone, I had my battles; the main thing is perseverance. In the beginning, 100 doors closed on me before I got that break I’d been working for. Along the way, I gained an amazing team. Working hard together we were doing some pretty great things; but it wasn’t until I fell under the radar of Cross Rivera of 80 Generations that things really took off. Partnering up with 80 Generations, Cross offered me the mentorship and networking needed to take us to the next level.
The biggest lesson to learn is to take the risks. So many are held back out of fear. You have to learn to take the risks if you want the rewards.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Arizona is LIT!! 1st place I’m taking anyone who visits is the Mill Ave strip in downtown Mesa. They have some of the greatest little shops that way, cutest clothes ever! Of course we will stop in at my favorite shop Graffiti Smoke Shop; home of (in my opinion) the best glass blower in the state. We will also have to head over to the downtown art district for one of the amazing art walks! Put on almost daily by local Arizona artists and displaying some of the most AMAZING creations I have ever seen! Coming into the evening we will be headed over to Aint Nicks Tavern (home of my favorite KJs) for some great eating and karaoke! Of course making time to go out towards Scottsdale to shoot some pool at the best pool hall in the state Racks Billards!
But with me, the popping culture of Phoenix isn’t all there is to see… You gotta check out the true beauty and culture of our amazing state too!!!! It’s ROAD TRIP TIME!!!! But 1st, on our way out, we must stop in at my favorite dispensary Jars in New River AZ! Now we’re headed to the gorgeous Painted Mountains of Sedona AZ!! You will be lost for words taking a guided hike through this beautiful landscape; I promise that!! While we’re there, we MUST stop in at my fav shop, The Crystal Witch; with a little of everything for the spirtual connection and amazing vibes! Then, we’re headed on over to Jerome; a city to amazing not to see!!!! Built on the side of a steep mountain, it’s gonna be a bit of a hike but totally worth it!!! An abandoned ghost town taken over by the Rasta and Flower Children; with some of the best shops ever!!! I can literally shop all day!!!!! Come night, we will have to stick around for the ghost tours through the old buildings, haunted hotel and 300 year old cemetary!!!!!!! So awesome!!!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
CRX/Cross and Shawan Na (80 Generations) Mad love!!! For always having our backs, holding us up through the hard times, helping me build us into what we are today and being the best partners we will ever have!!!!
