We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Fugate and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I longed for an office where I had a real estate family, where we helped and pushed each other towards achieving our goals. I was tired of being measured by transactions. I wanted to give other agents a home… where we could have wild success, support and fun. We wanted a better quality of life for our agents and our clients so, we created it. The name was easy…. my husband and I wanted to name it after the thing most important to us, family! Our brokerage, Mackenzie Jackson Real Estate, is proudly named after our children.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been in the real estate industry since I was 18 years old but, I’ve been dreaming about it my entire life. While other kids were out playing, I was taking Polaroid photos of model homes. I always knew I wanted to be a Realtor. Our business is built on incredible customer service and solving industry problems. We offer staging & design on all of our listings, at no charge, as well as offering construction and renovation services to our buyers and sellers, in addition to more traditional real estate offerings. I spent a little time in the US Air force and now proudly devote my career to serving and those still serving. I care tremendously about the mental health of our military and their families. I have unfortunately lost several clients and friends to suicide and I am currently working with families of the fallen to get mental health care to those that desperately need it, no questions asked, no cost and no one will know they went. Serving those that serve means I am there…. always….. for the good and the bad times, through deployments, holidays, happiness and sadness and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m not just their Realtor, these people are family.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely hit some of my favorite restaurants! The famous for an incredible steak, Fujiyama’s for some epic sushi, lunch at Shuga’s…. grab some Amy’s donuts and drive up pikes peak and see the world, hike through garden of the gods, get a massage at mateo’s day spa and stroll around the broAdmoor while the snow is falling and enjoy some drinks and get stung, at the Golden bee!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dave Rice and Keith McKinney at New Home Star took a chance on me, when I needed guidance and discipline but couldn’t get out of my own way. They helped me achieve my goals and unleash my strength and creativity on the real estate world, while teaching me the most important life lessons about success, maturity and where to go from here. I will always be eternally grateful for their lessons.
