We had the good fortune of connecting with Angie Lucid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The simple answer: Life is too short to work for someone else’s dream.
I grew up watching my parent’s generation working to live, and I didn’t want that for myself or my family. As a new mom, I want to show my son that you can have a healthy balance between working and living and enjoy both of them. So working for myself and pursuing my own dreams and visions was one way to start.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started out making graphic reductions of animals and people’s pets during the pandemic. I still do that from time to time, but I have recently started to focus on photography and videography. I love recording and editing videos! My favorite has been recording videos for Remedy Brewing and involving the staff in the videos. We have a great time recording and usually, my face hurts after editing the videos because I’m laughing so hard at the bloopers. I truly love it! I still have so many challenges ahead! I have a bigger vision that my husband and I have been working on. But what I’ve learned so far, is that networking and making connections are so important. Having supportive people around you is what will help you thrive.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I may be a little biased, but to eat, drink, and enjoy an amazing outdoor patio, I would recommend Remedy Brewing Company. Other places for eating/drinking would be Bread & Circus, Falls Landing, Hello Hi, Intoxibakes (for a boozy, or non-boozy, dessert), and just about anywhere downtown, honestly.
The Washington Pavillion is a great place to check out artwork. Japanese Gardens is a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy the outdoors. Another great outdoor place is The Falls.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m just starting out, so the list will be long of people that have helped me and will help me in the coming months, but my biggest supporter is my husband, Derek. He is the one that has pushed me to make the jump to work for myself. When I’ve second-guessed myself, he has reminded me why I’m doing what I’m doing and why I should keep going. A shoutout to my friends and family for believing that I can succeed and to Remedy Brewing Company for giving me the opportunity to learn and grow alongside them.
