We had the good fortune of connecting with Anne Marie Liebman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anne Marie Liebman, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had a significantly creative side, possessing that naturally creative eye. Art class was my favorite! And a bit later on, the end of high school, beginning of college, I found such enjoyment and entertainment from the show ‘Sex and the City’… Super inspired by Carrie Bradshaw. Her way of putting together the most unexpected pieces to create the most amazing outfits!
I started getting into fashion magazines, paying much more attention to fashion and style. And I was exposed to a lot more of all of that in college – nicer things, bigger / designer brands. I began to have a new appreciation for style—not only for me personally, but the fashion world overall. It became this fun thing for me, putting different, unique outfits together, unlike any other looks I’d seen, creating my very own style. Friends started coming to me asking about style advice – what should I wear to this? What goes with this? What color would work best for this outfit? I would so easily have answers and ideas for them! It came so naturally. Again, that creative eye!
My background is in Marketing and Advertising—I’ve done everything from the corporate side of marketing to the boutique agency marketing world. But then I got to a point in my career where I knew I didn’t want to do that anymore. I knew I wanted to play bigger, was supposed to have a bigger impact on this world. I didn’t ant to work for someone else anymore. I was ready for that next thing in my life and career. I thought about what really lights me up. What excites me like nothing else, what do I love and what am I passionate about?! The fashion and style world. That’s when I decided I would start my own style consulting company, and SheStylesCO came to life!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
SheStylesCO works with you (women and men) to discover how you truly want to show up in the world and emulate that through a style all your own. As your styling consultant, I help you create fresh new looks and teach you how to rock your style to the fullest. With in-person (or virtual) style sessions, collaborative shopping trips, and my digital styling process, I’ve got you!
And at the core of my business, the SheStylesCO Style Philosophy: Balance. Pop. Purpose.
From my professional stylist perspective, these are the three core elements key to incorporating into each and every outfit put together. Without even one of these pieces thoughtfully and intentionally incorporated, the outfit isn’t exuding its fullest potential. All three of these can make an outfit exceptional—an outfit created with thought and intent.
Your overall look. Is your outfit as a whole balanced and aesthetically pleasing to the eye?
The piece you incorporate into your outfit that creates interest, makes you stand out, is often the most memorable.
Whatever you decide to wear, and however you decide to wear it, it is done for a reason, intentionally, on purpose.
Further, the SheStylesCO LIFE Philosophy: What I’ve realized after some time in teaching this to my clients from a styling perspective, is that it carries a whole lot more meaning as it relates to our own lives. The Styling side of Balance, Pop and Purpose not only applies to the outfits we put together/ our LOOK. But think about it. What if we were just as thoughtful and intentional about incorporating these three elements into our own lives?
Each and every one of us has the opportunity to be exceptional. Be thoughtful. Be intentional. Find true balance. It is ever so important. Exude your pop to the fullest, whatever that amazing thing is about you that makes you stand out like no other. And get clear on what you want your purpose to be. With every action, what is your purposeful intent? Let us all put on our own exceptional outfits, because in them, not only will we feel like we can change the world, we’ll already be doing it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think Denver is full of cool spots, and more keep popping up! Especially during this time, when restaurants and businesses are having to be super creative about how to stay open when capacity restrictions continue to be in place. One of my favorite things is happy hour! There are so many great places to go and check out, and then of course amazing dinner options as well.
I’ve been really impressed with what Larimer Square has done with the closing of the street, the beautiful art and the creative and unique outdoor seating varieties there. Such a beautiful spot to go in the evenings when it’s all lit up. LoHi is one of my go-to neighborhoods. Cool vibe, some really fun new places have opened up such as My Neighbor Felix and Happy Camper. Some awesome coffee shops around as well. One of my favorite spots to work from, or simply just hang out at, is Carbon Cafe on Platte Street. Great vibe—chill, a bit hipster, always a solid playlist of music going. Not to mention the amazing coffee and food, especially with Habit Doughnut right next door—that’s a treat for sure! RiNo is also such a fun spot to check out—the wall art on the buildings, laid back, cool feeling of the whole area. Fun to wander around that neighborhood for sure. And Union Station – always a beautiful place to walk through and grab a drink and/or bite to eat. They do such a good job there of making it feel cozy. And it’s always decorated so beautifully for whatever holiday or season we’re in. And Cooper Lounge upstairs… amazing cocktails and elevated atmosphere (literally!) for a more up-scale social experience. Of course there are the mountains as well! I’m more of a ‘city girl’, however, there are a lot of nearby options if my visitors wanted to get a hike in or do some outdoor exploring.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am part of a ‘mastermind’ group, more so a ‘sisterhood’, with three other amazing, badass, entrepreneur women — ‘The League of Sisters’ We provide each other with unconditional support, love and compassion as we all continue to hustle, grow and achieve successes in our own businesses. I’m extremely grateful for the support and positivity and powerful energy I receive from these incredible women each day.
