We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Doctoroff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
Our gym is not just a gym. Coming into our business, you won’t find people quietly working out in their station, staying in the zone, and doing their own thing. Our gym is an unbelievable community of people working hard TOGETHER as a group to push themselves to what we call… Level 10. Our gym is a judgement free zone where everyone can empty their full tank of effort without worrying that someone is watching them or critiquing their ability. Our community helps others feel good about themselves, regardless of the opportunity they have to better themselves. In our gym, you’ll see people of all shapes and sizes, all ages, and all different kinds of athletic background, working hard to stay healthy. This world is full of a skewed view of body image and what perfection should look like. Our gym helps chip away at negative body image, helps people love themselves for who they are and where they are at now, even if they still identify areas of opportunity. This helps breeds more positive, uplifted, confident community which is desperately needed, especially in our youth. It is often said that comparison is the thief of all joy. If we continue to show the younger generation that they should strive for the perfection put out their on social media and Hollywood, we will continue to breed negative self talk and body image issues. It starts with us, the community that comes through our gym, to show at any age, size, or background, we can be healthy and happy in the body we have.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our gym is a boot camp style Kickboxing and Strength Training Gym. In addition to the physical components, we work hard to help you with the way you eat and your overall nutrition. We truly are a one stop shop for all things fitness and nutrition. Plus, when enrolled in our boot camp, we give one person a $1,000 who made the most overall body change, which keeps our program competitive and helps hold members accountable. I love FXB Denver so much which is why I was a member for over 7 years, 4.5 of those living in a different state. The community made SUCH a difference in my life so when I finally moved to Denver, I knew I wanted to impact the Denver community as much as it impacted me. Owning my own gym definitely came with a fair share of struggles. The fitness industry is competitive, but when you believe in your product so much and know you can back it up with results, it’s easy to keep powering on!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie is coming to town, here’s the itinerary: 1. start the day off with an early morning workout at my gym (duh) 2. grab a little breakfast at Snooze 3. take a little tour of Denver hotspots including Cherry Creek, Rhino District, and 16th Street Mall 4. Grab a little mid day coffee at Doppio Coffee before headed west to in some mountain time at Red Rocks 5. Lunch at a Denver favorite like La Loma or Sushi Den 6. Union Station and Denver Art Museum 7. Hi up Larimer Square for Dinner
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a lot of credit to my husband. He’s definitely the financial side of the operations and risked it all for us to open up our gym. At the time of buying our gym we were both under 30 and had just moved from a state where the cost of living was much lower that it is here in Denver. We had to risk it for the biscuit but that risk has fully paid off and that’s because of the support of my husband allow me to purse a dream I didn’t even know I had,
