We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley ( IndigoAshley ) Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley ( IndigoAshley ), why did you pursue a creative career?
With an unending source of creative flow, I knew my career had to encompass art and design. I sought a graphic and web design path to allow me the financial resources to explore my other areas of interest, illustration and painting. Wrapping my head around many aspects of art and design satisfied my drive to create and helped me expand my skill set.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I crave knowledge to become more connected to our planet and the spirit realms. I am currently writing and illustrating a young readers workbook to encourage the next generation to quiet their mind, lessen the digital distractions in their lives and pay acute attention to the natural world around them. Activities include building a meditation space and outfitting it with 7 tools for diving deep within, as they learn about the 7 chakras and the soul in a fun, adventurous, colorful way.

I have never taken a large project like this on before, nor have I claimed to ever be a writer. I’m learning how to publish a children’s book, pitch my work to agents and publishers and am learning digital drawing tool called ProCreate to create the illustrations. My passion for inspiring a movement of awakening and encouraging planetary healing is leading my drive in this project.

My 20 years of being a designer has helped me create the format of this book and my 10 years as a professional artist lends itself to creating the art within the story. The pandemic has allowed me the time for deep introspection and I realized my next step in my career is to write this book.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take a friend to see Red Rocks amphitheater, to hike and enjoy the unique rock formations. Definitely a great place to sit and meditate. There would be a trip to sit and soak in the river through Golden, the icy waters are refreshing and nice to energize the body. We’d spend some time in Boulder to view the colorful street art, visit the Dushanbe Tea House for a cup of tea in the beautiful carvings and mosaics architecture. A hike up the flatirons is a must and even a quick stroll to Settlers Park to climb the steep rock formations.
A hike in Evergreen would also be key and a paddle board excursion on the beautiful lake afterwards.
Lastly, walking through the art district in Denver’s Santa Fe area would be inspiring. First Fridays are great to see local galleries open their doors with fresh art and live music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am sending a Shoutout to Kimmy Hildago – https://www.instagram.com/thedenveryogirealtor/. We share a passion for learning, picking up book after book of spiritual knowledge to consume and Kimmy brilliantly gives back to our world with group meditations and soul circles. She is a source of inspiration, as we both are single parents, as she glows with positivity that keeps our community upbeat. She is a yoga instructor, reiki practitioner and meditation leader and has big plans in the works to bring a spiritual community together.
