We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Matuska and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My team. It starts with the people we invite to join us on this journey. We provide a very personal service cleaning people’s homes and we don’t take that honor lightly. You can basically train any hardworking individual to clean, but it takes a special person to vibe with the culture we have built and consistently take pride in what we do.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Always be learning. My business has blossomed into something I didn’t imagine when I first started it, eight years ago. Entrepreneurship is always evolving, and learning new skills is crucial for success. I read as many business books and take online courses as often as I can to stay sharp and improve my communication, leadership, and relationship skills.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start by walking them down the street to grab a coffee and pastry from Amethyst Coffee. It is a woman-owned coffee shop that does not accept tips and pays its team members $50k annual salary. With how diverse Colorado is in all the things we can do year-round I like to invite my out-of-town guests to think outside of their comfort zone and try something they would not normally do. The following is a list of places and adventures my boys and I frequent regularly: 1. Ride Bikes Downtown 2. Walk around Rhino Art District to see all the murals 3. Attend a Free Concert in the lawn at Levitt Pavillion 4. Attend a Concert OR Movie Night at Red Rocks 5. Hike (Golden, RMNP, Red Rocks, Evergreen, Breckenridge, just to name a few) 6. Rent Scooters and zip around Downtown 7. Hop on a raft, tube, or SUP at Rancho in the Colorado River 8. Ski/Snowboard at Loveland (we love the local spots) 9. Grab a beer at Hops & Pie or Falling Rock Tap House 10. Take a Yoga Class at Ohana on Tennyson
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My boys, Ryan and Alvie, have been so supportive of me from day one. Being a small business owner is no doubt hard work but having a supportive family to encourage you along the way makes it a little bit easier. Derwydd, my Office Manager was the first person I ever hired. He started as a Cleaning Technician and worked his way up to Office Manager. He has seen this business change and struggle through growth and a pandemic. I so appreciate his kindness, support, and patience through it all. I also owe much of my success to the global community of other cleaning business owners. I met most through social media groups and conferences. They are the most supportive group of folks I know. We share techniques, resources, successes, and failures. I would not be where I am today without their support and generosity.
