We had the good fortune of connecting with Bailey Richy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bailey, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Deciding to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas was a decision that truly changed the trajectory of my life and my career. Everything has a domino effect, and I feel that everything that has happened in my adult life is an outcome of that monumental decision. I had always dreamed of “party planning” so to say, as a career, but committing to UNLV and choosing Hospitality with a minor in Wedding & Event Planning was what really set that dream into motion. UNLV also led me to my now husband, who is a Colorado native. The hospitality program required an internship, and a connection through my now husband, led me to a wedding venue out here in Colorado. This solidified that I loved the world of weddings and that I wanted to pursue wedding planning as a career! My first job out of college ended up being at that same venue and the rest is history!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Bailey Richy Events & Design was created thanks to a true love of all things weddings and pretty things! I am fully immersed in the world of weddings and constantly stay up to date on trends, happenings, and new vendors to partner with. This business is a fun labor of love. I take a select amount of events so I can focus on clients and give them the best version of myself throughout the process. This also helps avoid burnout, which is such a struggle for small business owners!

I’m really proud of the business I’ve created. I’ve learned that putting yourself and personality into your brand attracts the people you are meant to work with. Ever since I launched my business, I truly feel like I’m attracting my dream clientele solely from my work and being myself which is such an amazing feeling. The journey was certainly not easy, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Every job I’ve had, every wedding I’ve worked has taught me so much which ultimately led me to feel confident in my work and the decision to start my own business. To me, this isn’t a job, it’s a passion project and I think people can feel that when they work with me. I’m excited to see the weddings, bridal showers, baby showers and relationships in store, this is just the beginning!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooh this is tough! I’d say some fun stops are Downtown Cherry Creek, Babe’s Tea Room, The Weathered Wick, The Buffalo Rose, 1Up Arcade Bar, a Rockies game and Alamo Drafthouse (obsessed with movie theater popcorn, I didn’t discover Alamo until I moved out here and it’s magical). I’m also a big shopper so a pit stop at the Cherry Creek Mall is a must!

Cherry Creek Grill, East Moon, Little Man Ice Cream, Caldero and Osterio Marco are some of my favorite restaurants here, to name a few!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As cliché as it may sound, I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and encouragement of my parents. Growing up, they always encouraged me to pursue something that I am passionate about. While money is an important aspect of life, neither of them ever promoted that it should be the driving factor when figuring out my career. My dad always said that passion should be the forefront.

The first event I ever planned was a baby shower with the help of my mom, when I was just fifteen. She gave me creative freedom and let me run with my ideas while supporting me and hyping me up along the way. When all was said and done, she continued to compliment the event we had put together and that essentially inspired my journey.
