We had the good fortune of connecting with Wes Barnett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wes, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
All my life I have had a creative mindset; My earliest childhood memories are flashbacks to when I started expressing my creative mind. Some of these early creative expressions included: crafting handmade books about things I was interested in or making home films about music. When I found social media it only blossomed my creative mind further. I was able to have a vision of how I wanted a photo or video to look and then I was able to transform it into reality. Flash forward to present day, I am now able to fully satisfy my creative mind by creating videos and pictures for social media. Looking back there was no other option than to pursue a creative career, because being creative is just me and always has been me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The journey to where I am today hasn’t been easy, and when I look at it I have failed far more than I have succeeded. I started Camo Press as a 16 year old with a phone and a passion for video creation. As a 16 year old in high school it was hard to fit in with my peers because I had aspirations much larger than the average high schooler. I wanted to be recognizable for my content creation as well as how I give back to my community. This garnered lots of negative attention especially when it is blasted all over on social media, resentment of this kind is hard to face as someone so young but I was able to overcome it by “trusting in the process”. Therefore, the advice I would give to anyone in this world that has a dream is trust yourself, trust your work ethic and your dedication. There will be people that try to tear you down, recognize that and understand that it will happen wherever and for whatever dream you may have.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have a lot of favorite spots in Broomfield/ Boulder and most of them revolve around food because I love it so much:

Here’s a dream vacation weekend in Broomfield / Boulder:

Saturday:
Beltrans Grill for lunch, it has some of the best tacos around.
Then we go to Ball Arena for a Nuggets game!
We end the night with Perrys Pizza, they have some amazing authentic New York pizza.

Sunday:
Go hike the flatirons or take a walk around Pearl Street
Make my way back to Broomfield for lunch at Los Dos, they have great burritos and it’s a Sunday tradition.
Wrapping the night up by watching football at Buffalo Wild Wings!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My entire life I have always aimed to give back to the people who have helped me along the way. I would love to give a shoutout and recognize the most influential people in my life. First I would like to start with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I have come along way in life, and none of it would be possible without the strength and opportunities Jesus has given me. Next I would like to thank the amazing support system I have at home. My Mom, Dad and two sisters have been the most supportive people along my journey, whether it is feedback on a video, food or water when I am editing or just someone to talk to when I am tired, they have all been there. I also want to thank the other creatives in my field for being reliable people I can talk to about my camera or editing problems. Last but certainly not least I want to thank all of my followers and supporters. Without every individual person showing love and support on every post, none of what I have accomplished would be possible so thank you! Thank you to everyone in my life that has made a difference!
