We had the good fortune of connecting with Becca Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Becca, how does your business help the community?
What comes to mind when you hear the term elopement? Do you see a couple running away in secret to get married because their parents don’t approve? Do you picture a couple spontaneously getting hitched in Vegas? Or quickly signing a piece of paper at the courthouse? Elopements tend to be misunderstood by many as the wedding industry has shifted the term to mean something completely different. The term is no longer clouded with judgement, embarrassment or shame. Quite frankly, it’s the exact opposite. My business helps the community and the world by showing couples a completely new and unique way of getting married.

After working traditional weddings both in the event and photography industry, I have seen and heard it all. The drama, stress, and pressure from family and friends can be overwhelming. “I wish we could redo our wedding day” is something I have heard one too many times. Dream wedding days turned into nightmares… Honestly, I am a little scarred from it all. After being in the industry I could never picture how I wanted to get married until I discovered what it’s like to have an adventure elopement.

Eloping is all about creating a wedding day that reflects who you are as a couple. It is a day where you truly feel alive in each other’s presence. It is a reflection of your relationship where you feel your truest self. It is a unique, emotional and intimate wedding experience where the focus of the day is only on you two.

Why is this new way of getting married having such a tremendous impact on the wedding industry? An adventure elopement is just that, an adventure. Couples get to dream up their best adventure yet and then get to live it on their elopement day. For some, that might mean waking up at the crack of dawn for a hike, diving into an alpine lake or flying over a glacier. Others, that might mean exploring a new national park or saying “I do”on top of a mountain. Some might even bring their dog as a witness. An elopement is not just a quick sign of the marriage license or an all day photo shoot. It’s not about performance, production or impressing your friends and family. It is simply about the two of you. An elopement is a feeling of freedom and comfort knowing you can commit your life to your best friend however and wherever you want. Having an adventure elopement is a meaningful, unforgettable wedding experience that you will want to live a million times over.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my business apart from others is how much I genuinely care about my clients and level of service I bring to the table. Not only do I document my couple’s dream wedding, I also help them plan it too. I want to get to know my couples on more of a personal level. My couples are not just my clients, they are my friends. “Becca took our engagement photos two years ago and we knew we were going to use her again someday. She is so easy to talk to and get along with. She really wants to get to know her couples on a level of friendship, not just photograph them. We talked to her off and on while we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do for our wedding – we agreed that her vision of eloping for us was exactly what we wanted and needed; it was the truest version of us. We definitely created a friendship with Becca during this time and she learned a lot about us as a couple and individually. She goes above and beyond getting to know her couples and creating relationships with them. She was able to capture us perfectly and helped us plan the most beautiful wedding I could ever dream of (we made all our friends and family jealous). I could NOT imagine anyone achieving what Becca did for our perfect wedding. Not only the photographs, but the friendship, the vendor recommendations and the location. She helped bring our love story to life, and captured it so we can share it with friends and family. She is top of the line and has set our expectations so high for other photographers. I could not imagine anything going better, because it was so perfect. Love you Becca! <3 Thank you again for everything you have done for us. We appreciate you so much and can’t wait to see the finish product!” – L & T

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Maddie Mae for introducing me to adventure elopements. Without her I wouldn’t have known about this industry and now passion of mine.
