We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ben, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue an artistic career because creating art has always been a major part of my life. I grew up in a household with two very different parents. My mom was the more artistic one. She had a home business decorating cakes and she also made and sold porcelain dolls. I spent many days in the kitchen helping with orders or on a road trip to a nearby ceramic show. My dad on the other hand was always very analytical and by the book. He was an engineer at Motorola and had a woodworking shop at home where he spent his free time. My mom taught me to be creative and to use my imagination. My dad taught me that I could build or fix anything. I have used that foundation to build an artistic career where I not only make art but I make useful, functional art that is affordable. A few years ago I met my partner, Audrey. She motivated me to really pursue creating art full time. Together we have taken iWalkonjello to where it is now.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create hand made mushroom lamps and other psychedelic artwork. The path that I took to get to where I currently am has been a long and interesting one. I started my artistic career as a tattoo artist many years ago. Since then I have dipped my toes into many different creative waters. I have done everything from mural painting to cake decorating but nothing was as fulfilling as I had hoped it would be. In 2017 my little brother passed away. That sent me down a long dark path of self discovery. Along my journey I started micro dosing psilocybin mushrooms. They changed my life and inspired me to create the mushroom lamps I make and sell today. Shortly after creating the first lamps I met my partner in business and life, Audrey. She motivated me to take iWalkonjello to the next step and turn it into a full time business. I am most excited about the new projects that we currently have in the works. We are about to purchase some new equipment that will allow us to make all kinds of new and exciting things. As far as my brand, I want someone to be able to see something I have made and know that it came from iWalkonjello. I try and set myself apart from others with my bright illustrative style.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Monday thru Wednesday – Take a 3 day 2 night trip to Cottonwood Hot Springs in Pagosa Springs Colorado Thursday – Hit up Garden of the Gods and Manitou Springs followed by dinner at Mother Muffs
Friday – Lucky Dumpling for dinner and then head over to Tejon
Saturday – Early dinner of Empanadas at You-Ka Cafe then catch a show at the Blacksheep.
Sunday – Breakfast burritos at Monicas, hit up some local dispensaries and then a nice relaxing day at home.

I think that there are a lot of rad food joints around town as well as interesting people and cool things to see.
