We had the good fortune of connecting with Bettina Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bettina, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
What inspires me most is giving to the game of basketball and my local communities. Helping athletes reach their goals in or outside of athletics. My purpose is to give back in such a way that lives are changed for the better and ultimately encourage the next generation of givers to do the same.

What should our readers know about your business?

Denver Dynasty is a Women’s semi-professional basketball team established in 2020. My son, Ricky Jones, and I wanted to provide women with the opportunity to compete on a high level in the United States. Without our opportunities, many players would not be afforded the opportunity to play at this level unless they compete on a team outside of the country.  I’m most proud that the Denver Dynasty is able to make dreams come true.

20 years ago, there were no semi-pro leagues in the states. The WNBA can’t draft every talented player so if a player was not drafted or got an opportunity in the European leagues their basketball career was over. There are a number of challenges faced by women’s athletics but the pay disparity is one of the largest. Women come out of their pockets to compete each summer at a high level to continue their careers. There have been a ton of lessons to learn along the way but persistence is key. We want the world to know that the Denver Dynasty is here to stay and look to provide opportunities for players for years to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I feel Colorado is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and a visit would not be complete without a trip to the mountains. Take note that the fall foliage is amazing. Fall is the perfect time to visit if you want to get outside before snowfall. I always recommend visitors try GQue BBQ which I believe has some of the best BBQ in the country, not just Colorado. Tupelo Honey is another fan favorite located downtown near Union Station. Their menu is packed with delicious southern cuisine. Our city is filled with a number of places to entertain while visiting the Mile High. You really can’t go wrong.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to Shout Out Mario Mcdonald, owner of the I Get Money Athletic Clothing line. Mario has been a major supporter of the advancement of our athletes. His clothing line is a sediment of what it means to make a deposit on your health. Mario has also opened a smoothie business to help with the wellness of all individuals looking to live a healthier lifestyle.
