We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bianca, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business was a decision driven by the need for flexibility in my schedule to accommodate my children. As an independent stylist, I have the freedom to set my own hours and prioritize my family while still pursuing my passion for styling.
However, being in shared space with other entrepreneurs who didn’t share the same vision as me started to negatively impact the experience I wanted my guests to have. It became clear that I needed to create a space where stylists could have the flexibility and work-life balance they desired, while still providing exceptional services to our guests.
My goal now is to create a salon environment that not only caters to our clients’ needs but also fulfills the professional needs of stylists. This means offering education, inspiration, and one-on-one guidance to help them excel in their careers and expand their skills within the industry.
Transparency and open communication are important to me, and I believe in sharing my thought process behind starting this business. By creating such an environment, I hope to.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets Art ‘N Hair apart is our unwavering dedication to providing an unparalleled experience for our guests. We go above and beyond to ensure that each person who walks through our doors is not only satisfied but genuinely impressed with the level of service they receive. Our commitment to raising the bar in the industry extends not only to our customers but also to our talented team of stylists, whom we strive to create a work environment that is fulfilling and rewarding.
As a new business, one of the aspects that excites me the most is the opportunity to connect with our local community. Hyattsville is a vibrant area, and I firmly believe that there is nothing quite like Art ‘N Hair in this area. It is thrilling to know that residents of Hyattsville can now experience the unique offerings we have right in their own backyard. We are thrilled to introduce them to our personalized approach, cutting-edge techniques, and the passion we have for helping individuals look and feel their best.
What has gotten me to this point in business is God. Throughout my journey, I have realized that my success would not have been possible without God’s order and grace in my life. Every step I have taken has been led by His providence, and that is what has brought me to where I am today.
Although the path has been challenging, I find great joy and fulfillment in overcoming obstacles. One of the strategies that has helped me conquer these challenges is my curiosity and thirst for knowledge. I have made it a habit to connect with successful business owners who have achieved the level of success I aspire to reach. By learning from their experiences and insights, I gain valuable wisdom that helps me navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship.
Another lesson I have learned along the way is the importance of staying true to my original vision. When faced with setbacks or distractions, I always come back to the core purpose that drives me. By keeping this vision at the forefront, I am able to refocus and get Art ‘˜Hair back on tract and closer to our long term goals.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh wow! To start off the week I would definitely say Vigilantes Coffee, the coffee is amazing and it has a vibe to match. Busboys and Poets is definitely a spot to check out for food and drinks, I love to read and appreciate the bookstore that is on site. Sugar Vault would definitely be on the list their desserts are amazing. I would finish the week with Street Car Brewery on Friday, the vibe and ciders are great and they have a taco truck their every Friday.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am honored to have worked with Cindy Feldman and Ira Ludwick. Progressions Salon is where I started my training after becoming a licensed cosmetologist. I grew tremendously as a stylist and as a business woman within this establishment and am blessed to have encountered and worked next to other stylist within Progressions as well.
