We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Eckstein and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bianca, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In 2020 when everything shut down, my husband, children, and I were all at home together. I never stopped working because I work from home. I am a Graphic & Web Designer. Like most people during this uncertain time, I felt suffocated and really wanted my own space. There was an unused and semi-empty room in our basement, which I turned into my very own creative studio.

A lot of people lost their jobs and had no other option than to start selling all kinds of items to make ends meet. Fortunately, that was not my case. For me, I felt like I needed it to keep me sane. The thought of starting a new business sounded exciting to me. I decided I wanted to make jewelry, mainly earrings because that is what I love the most. I started small with a handful of designs and completely fell in love with the process. From there, I decided I wanted to build my own brand and not just sell handmade jewelry to family and friends, but on social media as well. I got to be as creative as I wanted and the process was very enjoyable.

AdultishJewelry was born out of uncommon circumstances and turned out to be one of the biggest blessings during a difficult time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I finished my degree at CSUP back in 2017, my major was Graphic Design and as soon as I graduated I started working at my 88Platinum as a Web Designer and SEO assistant. Even though I absolutely love my job, I was missing the freedom of creating logos, brands, and things like that. This is why AdultishJewelry fulfills me in more than one way.

I have always loved jewelry, growing up with four sisters we had every piece of jewelry you can imagine in every color. My mom and dad have a very nice taste in style and that was picked up by my sisters and I.

With my brand I wanted to help women feel special and beautiful on their daily lives. The jewelry I make has many benefits but one of the most important ones are that my earrings are lightweight, you can forget you are wearing fancy earrings!, they are inexpensive, and unique! I hardly make two pairs of earrings the same.

I get a lot of compliments when I wear my jewelry and I hope that women that purchase my jewelry gets them too. My promise to you is that I make every piece as if it is going to be mine, I make sure I am completely happy with it before I sell it. You will love it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For breakfast/brunch my favorite places are: the Omelette Parlor, Shuga’s, Urban Egg, and East Coast Deli.

For Dinner my favorite places are: The Rabbit Hole, Trainwreck, The Public House, Paravicini’s Italian Bistro, Phantom Canyon, and Bristol Brewing Company.

Favorite places to visit are: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Garden of the Gods, The shops in Manitou as well as the penny arcade, and definitely visit Downtown Colorado Springs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my husband Dan, who has always supported me in all the crazy ideas I get. When I told him what I needed to get my project started, he didn’t hesitate to offer all of his support without a doubt and that really gave me the confidence to go all in. Without his support, none of this would have happened.

My children Luis and Evangeline were super supportive from the beginning, always complimenting all the new jewelry I made. They were very understanding that when mom was in the studio, I needed to be left in peace.

My parents and my four sisters were also very supportive. As nervous as I was to embark on this journey, I felt like I had a whole team on my side. My family and I are very close, and it felt amazing to have their unconditional support.

I would like to give a special shoutout to my sister Gianny, my creative partner. She has an eye for the small details that make us different from our competitors. Gianny makes jewelry making and selling a thousand times better! We laugh so much that it feels like a stress reliever. Thank you for always offering me your help in any way you can.
