We had the good fortune of connecting with Britt Ritchie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britt, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business because I reached a breaking point with the traditional healthcare system. I was exhausted by the constraints imposed by insurance companies and frustrated that so much of my time and energy went into checking boxes, completing forms, and asking questions that weren’t always relevant to why someone was actually sitting in front of me. I felt limited in what I could truly offer my patients, and I knew I was capable of providing care that went deeper and had more impact than that system allowed.

At the same time, I realized I was ready to stop investing my energy in building someone else’s business. I wanted to create something of my own. Something truly aligned with my values, where quality of care came first, and where the effort I put in was reflected in both the impact I made and the return I received. I no longer wanted to contribute to someone else’s bottom line while accepting a fraction of the value I was creating.

That’s how Mind Alchemy Mental Health was born. I built my private practice specifically to support ambitious women who are struggling with anxiety, ADHD, depression, and burnout. This work is deeply personal for me. I’ve lived it. I spent years chasing achievement, promotions, and external validation, constantly trying to prove that I was “good enough.” Eventually, that way of living led me to burnout, and I had to do my own deep work to unlearn the beliefs, behaviors, and patterns that got me there. I now help other women navigate that same journey, because the traditional system often isn’t designed with them in mind.

My practice is grounded in integrative psychiatry, which means we focus on getting to the root cause rather than just managing symptoms. That includes functional lab testing to identify nutrient deficiencies or subclinical medical issues that can significantly impact mental health. I can prescribe medications when appropriate, but I also use supplements and lifestyle-based interventions as part of a comprehensive approach.

Equally important, we focus on the factors that are often overlooked but essential to real recovery, like therapy and coaching, boundary setting, values clarification, work–life balance, nervous system regulation, mindfulness practices, journaling, and gratitude. When women gain clarity around their values and learn how to live in alignment with them, we often see meaningful improvement in mental health symptoms.

Many ambitious women don’t feel “sick enough” to seek psychiatric care. They’re often told to simply practice more self-care, rest more, or take a medication; advice that rarely addresses the full picture of what they’re experiencing. I started my business to offer something different: thoughtful, holistic, and personalized care that honors both the complexity of mental health and the realities of women who are balancing high-achieving careers, family life, and their own well-being.

What should our readers know about your business?
Mind Alchemy Mental Health is a boutique, holistic psychiatry practice dedicated to supporting ambitious women who are balancing demanding careers and family life while quietly feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and unfulfilled. These are women who appear high-functioning on the outside but are struggling internally, and often don’t feel like their challenges are “severe enough” to ask for help.

What truly sets my practice apart is lived experience. I’ve been in these women’s shoes. I understand the pressure to achieve, the drive to prove your worth, and the burnout that can come from living out of alignment with your values. Because I’ve done the work myself, I know what it takes to move beyond symptom management and create lasting change. My work is deeply rooted in helping women reconnect with what actually matters to them and build lives that feel sustainable and fulfilling, not just successful on paper.

Because my practice operates outside of the insurance model, I’m able to offer highly personalized, integrative care. That means combining psychiatric expertise with functional lab testing, medication when appropriate, supplements and nutraceuticals, and essential lifestyle-based interventions such as therapy, coaching, boundary setting, values clarification, nervous system regulation, and mindfulness practices. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual woman sitting in front of me; there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

I opened my private practice in January of 2025 after working in more traditional clinical settings where I felt limited in the depth and quality of care I could provide. Making the leap into entrepreneurship was not easy. Building a business while caring deeply about the people you serve comes with challenges, uncertainty, and a steep learning curve. What carried me through was clarity around my mission and a deep belief in the value of the work I was creating. Knowing that I was offering something meaningful to women who often suffer in silence made the risks worth it.

Along the way, I’ve learned that growth rarely comes from staying comfortable, and that trusting yourself, even when the path isn’t clear, is essential. I’ve also learned that asking for support is not a weakness; it’s often the catalyst for real transformation.

What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is this: it’s never too late to change your life. Your struggles are never “too small” to deserve attention and care. You are allowed to want more ease, fulfillment, and alignment, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. There are practitioners like me who are deeply invested in helping women create lives that honor both their ambition and their well-being.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Colorado for a week, I’d want them to experience the full range of what makes this place so special, nature, culture, food, and a little bit of magic.

First on the list would absolutely be a concert at Red Rocks. There’s nothing like it, and it’s one of those bucket-list experiences that never disappoints. We’d also get outside as much as possible, hiking a fourteener if they’re up for the challenge, or at least spending time exploring some of the incredible trails nearby. In the summer, tubing down the river in Golden is a must, and if we’re feeling playful, a stop at Water World or Elitch Gardens would be on the agenda.

Sports would definitely make the itinerary. Catching a Rockies game on a sunny afternoon or a Broncos game during football season is such a fun way to experience the city’s energy. I’d also show them around some of my favorite neighborhoods, walking through Cherry Creek, spending time in Wash Park, and people-watching at Milk Market while grabbing a snack, coffee, or ice cream.

For food, I’d take them to Hillstone or Le Colonial in Cherry Creek, Safta in RiNo, and Rioja on Larimer Square for incredible pasta. On a warm evening, we’d grab a drink at a rooftop bar like 54thirty for unbeatable city views.

If it’s winter, a ski day (or weekend) in one of Colorado’s resort towns would be non-negotiable. And for something a little different, I’d end the week with a show at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret for a fun, uniquely Denver experience.

Overall, I’d want my friend to leave feeling what I love most about Colorado: the balance of adventure, culture, great food, and moments that feel both exciting and grounding all at once.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would absolutely dedicate this shoutout to Kerry Peterson, Associate Professor at the University of Colorado College of Nursing and Specialty Director for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. Kerry saw potential in me long before I was able to see it in myself. Her belief in me, along with the encouragement and opportunities she offered, played a pivotal role in shaping my confidence and professional path. She opened doors I never would have thought to knock on and trusted me with opportunities I might not have pursued on my own.
