Meet Brittni Morris | Chef & ServSafe Instructor and Proctor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittni Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittni, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Chef Studies LLC helps the community by promoting public health safety. Educated food service workers are less likely to cause a foodborne illness. I help ensure restaurants, schools, daycares, food trucks, hospitals etc follow safe food practices. This reduces health risks, especially for vulnerable populations like the elderly, children, or those with weakened immune systems.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently the Executive Chef for Denver Health Hospital. The 3rd largest hospital in Colorado. This was a huge accomplishment for me and I take it with great pride. Everyday my team and I make sure patients of all kinds get the nourishment they need to help their bodies recover. We are a huge part of the community and give back whenever the opportunity presents itself. Denver Health is an amazing place to work and I’m proud of the work we do.
In 2023 I opened Chef Studies LLC and a new chapter started for me. I have always wanted my own business and I actually went to college to be a teacher. I fell in love with cooking along the way and never looked back. Today I get to teach what I love doing and I couldn’t be happier. I am an expert in food safety and I take great pride in teaching food safety. Food is love and without taking the proper safety precautions someone can seriously get hurt. I am excited for growth. I would love to be able to expand and schedule out servsafe teachers monthly. I am also in the works of creating a video which would make my services available nationwide. That will be a huge step for Chef Studies LLC.
Getting here was not easy. I have sacrificed many holidays, birthdays and special moments with my family to be where I am today. My family has given so much. At one point my daughter had 4 teeth grow in (her first) and I was so busy opening a new restaurant I didn’t see it until it was too late. I’ve missed out on a lot and so has my family. The dedication never stopped and I can truly say I’m successful. I have reached my lifetime goal at 35 so it’s only up from here!
Along the way I have learned that a work life balance is crucial! Many chefs get burnt out and think it’s not worth it. In the end having a strong support system to come home to makes it happen. The struggles weren’t easy but with my family in my corner anything is possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start our morning off with breakfast at Denver Biscuit Company. It was my first job after moving to Denver in 2014 and the food is fantastic. Every biscuit served has been made fresh. Then we would spend the afternoon site seeing Garden of the Gods. Being raised in Florida with flat land this is an absolutely breathtaking experience. We would get dinner after at Cinzettis the Italian buffet and spend the evening watching a beautiful ballet in downtown Denver. The following morning we would go up to lookout mountain and Red Red rocks for the stunning views of the city. Followed by a nice hike in the mountains. Lunch at a mom and pop pizza shop then back home for a concert at Pepsi Center. Denver wouldn’t be Denver without the Broncos so of course we would finish our weekend at a Broncos home game. Tailgating is part of the experience so we’d make it a full day. Broncos Country!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother Tonya always pushed me to be the best. Always striving for more. That has been ingrained in me since I child and I live my life to those standards. Without my mom pushing me to always be better I would have settled for average, and I’m not average.
I also want to thank my wife Melisa for her consistent support over the last 11 years. With her behind me I have been able to be successful. She handles our home of 6 and is a constant guide for positivity. She has been in my corner from day one reminding me of all the things I can accomplish if I put my mind to it. Without her I wouldn’t have my own business and I wouldn’t be a successful Chef. I owe my success to her.
