We had the good fortune of connecting with Candis Lusk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Candis, how do you think about risk?
As Ginni Rometty once said, “Growth and comfort do not coexist.” From my earliest childhood memories, I have always been a risk taker! Growing up in competitive gymnastics, risk (and fear) were something I dealt with daily. Whether it was learning a new skill, with a higher risk of injury, or starting a new business venture in Real Estate, risk is not something I have ever shied away from. The sport of gymnastics really taught me to push my limits and to get comfortable doing things scared. I’ve taken those principal values I learned through competitive sports and have applied them into my real estate business practices!
What should our readers know about your business?
How I got my start: in real estate:
While I’ve always loved interior design & architecture for as long as I can remember, I had never really considered pursuing either of them professionally. That all changed in 2011, when I moved to Denver on a whim and randomly came across a job posting for a leasing position with a luxury apartment building. Needless to say, I applied, interviewed and ended up getting the job! I had no idea that position would be the segway into my true calling and purpose.
After several years learning the ropes of leasing and working my way up into property management, I decided I wanted to make a bigger impact in my clients life…something on a much larger scale! Ultimately, this led me to the decision to get my real estate license in 2019 and really pursue my passion for helping others!
What sets me apart from others:
There are several factors that I believe contribute to my real estate brand’s success and set me apart from other realtors, but if I had to pinpoint the most important factor, I would say it’s the white glove customer service experience I provide my clients start to finish! This includes honest, transparent communication throughout the entire real estate transaction, while educating & empowering my clients to make the best decisions for themselves. The clients that work with me really appreciate my honestly and directness.
How did you get to where you are today?:
I got to where I am today with a lot of SACRIFICE, GRIT and HARD WORK. Often times, people watch all these real estate “reality” TV shows and they don’t really see the hustle and grind behind the scenes that goes into building/maintaining a successful real estate career. It doesn’t happen overnight, there were many times in my first 2 years that I had to work all types of side hustles, sometimes even hourly overnight jobs, just to be able to stay afloat and continue to build my business. While those first years were really challenging, they just reaffirmed my love for real estate and the families I’m privileged enough to serve. As with most things in life, the struggle makes the success that much sweeter!
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way:
I’ve learned not to be afraid of failure, to go ALL IN and most importantly, to trust my own intuitions.
What do you want the world to know about you, your brand or your story? I would want them to know that I work with buyers, sellers and investors in all different price points throughout Colorado! I also specialize in working with first time homebuyers and clients relocating to Denver from out of state. As a Denver transplant myself, I LOVE introducing new Denverite’s to all the amazing things Colorado has to offer!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would have to take them to:
Visit Red Rocks Amphitheatre (to catch a live show)
Visit the RiNo neighborhood (lunch at The Denver Central Market, then go check out the amazing street art)
Estes Park Weekend Trip (my favorite little mountain town to escape to for a weekend)
Visit Washington Park (my favorite city park to hang/run at)
Catch a Broncos game at Empower Field
Dinner in Larimer Square
Shopping in Cherry Creek
People watch at Union Station
Dinner at Dairy Block followed by cocktails at Run For The Roses

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Behind every successful entrepreneur, there is typically a large group of people in the shadows supporting them. With that being said, I want to thank and recognize my husband (Brett) and daughters (Moxie & Waylynn) for always putting up with my crazy real estate schedule! My mom, who taught me the value of hard work. My dear friend, Elise, who has always been my hype woman and real estate mentor from day one. And last but not least, Jared Blank and Kacey Bingham at The Agency Denver for their continuous support, guidance and belief in my abilities.
