We had the good fortune of connecting with Carri Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carri, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The decision to become a relationship coach came out of the pain of divorce. He had an affair, which could have left me bitter, untrusting, and full of unforgiveness, but instead I recognized my need for healing & growth. As a result of “doing the work of healing”, I am happily remarried and my relationships are thriving. I love helping others find this same hope & healing by challenging my clients disempowered thinking, helping them find their passion, so they engage in relationships that are aligned with who they are, helping refine their communication skills and so much more.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
“The relationship between I and we, first starts with me.” In order for us to show up as our best selves & have fulfilling relationships, it starts with us truly understanding ourselves, being a little selfish, if you will. When we learn who we are, what we want, what we are holding onto that we might need to let go of, what we value, what we appreciate, how we speak to ourselves….we establish a firm foundation. That firm foundation is necessary for thriving romantic relationships and those with our children, neighbors & co-workers. That foundation empowers & allows us to interact at our best!
It is my passion to customize 1:1 coaching plans to help my clients achieve their relationship and life goals. My clients often tell me that they have never had anyone listen to and understand them the way I that I do. I love helping people feel truly understood. I lived most of my life not feeling understood, so it’s a personal mission to never let anyone else I work with feel that way.
You Made New Coaching was born out of the loss of a 19 year marriage. I recognized that although, he had an affair, I had so much that I needed to work on in order to overcome anger, guilt, & resentment. I did the work to find healing. I trained at Health Coach Institute and became a certified Health Coach, Life Coach and then gained my Master Coach accreditation. I specialize in relationships and also help clients regain their physical health, if needed. I don’t ask anything of my clients that I haven’t worked through myself. The journey wasn’t necessarily easy, but it was absolutely worth it! I am happily re-married for almost 5 years & we just welcomed a new baby girl into our blended family last year.
I have the tools, tips and resources to help people go from feeling stuck to taking small steps that build momentum and allow for gradual transformation that sticks.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are so fortunate to live in the beautiful state of Colorado! If my BFF were visiting–I would take her into the mountains, escape the city life. We would go to for a hike at Flagstaff outside Boulder, then drive up beautiful Boulder Canyon to Nederland and ride the carousel of Happiness (because where else can you find such a unique treasure???), then we would head toward Glenwood Springs and hike Hanging Lake. Then we’d slide down the mountain on the Alpine Coaster & then take a soak in Iron Mountain Hot Springs. If time allowed, we would go to Uray and enjoy the hot springs and the hummingbirds or Durango and enjoy the incredible views & unique downtown. Maybe we’d go to Telluride and hike Blue Lakes Trail (one of my absolute favs!)
The Colorado Cherry Pie Company between Estes and Lyons is the absolute best for their mixed berry pie. Mod Pizza & Bird Call are great for fast meal. I love Micci’s for their incredible gelato. There’s a fantastic Mexican restaurant in Evergreen with the most amazing nachos EVER! Mountain towns are magical!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to God for redeeming all things in my life, for he does indeed make all things new! I am so grateful for my incredible husband Matt! He believes, encourages and loves me without limit. My kids are my why, without them there’s little to propel me. My mother in law, without her–well, I wouldn’t be remarried, which means I likely wouldn’t have pursued coaching…Finally, my parents for always being my biggest cheerleaders!
