We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassie Chacon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I grew up always doing my nails. I loved it. I was constantly changing my nails. Mixing nail colors, trying out different nail designs, and layering nail polish. When I was in middle school we went to Warren tech on a field trip. I fell in love with hearing about the nail tech course. I learned so much. I started my career as a senior in high school. Being in the beauty industry has been a lot of fun. I love how the trends are always changing, there’s so many options out there, from colors, nail art designs, and products. I love creating something fun on people’s nails, that makes them feel good about themselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been doing now for 13 years. Crazy to think that. Most of my nail career I was at one nail salon. I had learned so much from them. I have taken some things I learned there and now use them everyday at my nail studio. I’m able to take my time with my clients and really personalize their services. I can spend extra time on certain areas they are concerned about.
I make sure that all my tools, are completely cleaned and sterilized. Per state we have to clean our tools with soap and water, then have to soak them in a hospital grade disinfectant for ten minutes. I do all that and then take it a step further. I wear gloves, package them and put them in an autoclave. All my metal tools are completely sterilized. The files and buffers I use are too porous, so they can’t properly, be disinfected. I offer them to my clients to take home, or I just throw them in the trash. I also try to make sure all my products are top of the line and don’t have a lot of harmful chemicals. I take pride in making sure I’m providing a clean and safe environment for my clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My friends and I are such foodies. We are always going out to new restaurants. We love starting the weekend with brunch at view house, their brunch is so good, but their mimosas towers are our favorite. A must is to go for margaritas at Los dos Portillo’s. It’s one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. We love hanging out at happy camper. They have the best outdoor patio. Fun little games, around the patio. We like to bring uno cards and just drink and play uno.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been doing nails for 13 years. One morning I decided to leave the nail salon I was at. I asked my friend Desiree if I could share her nail studio, she said yes. It’s now been two years that we have shared the studio. It’s been really great. I’m so grateful for the opportunity she gave me. I also am so grateful for all of my clients that followed me and have trusted me and my business the last two years.
