We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlie Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charlie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Flair Affair Entertainment begin as a university summer project back in 2010 for CSU-Pueblo TODAY. I was a senior Mass Communications/Broadcasting student who happened to be the video/audio editor for the publication. I was attending a summer session when I came up with the idea for what was at the time a series designed to showcase people and their talent. Initially, the program focused on local talent in Southern Colorado and made its debut on July 19th of that year via the university website and social media arm.

Eventually, the entire concept expanded into what it is today as we had folks on an international level come to us wanting to participate and share their talent across our platform. We went from simply interviewing talent to promoting talent. Soon, FA Ent. had blossomed into an almost music-based business that not only interviewed and showcased talented musicians via the official website, but also offered services to help promote the artist from electronic press kits, video, graphics to promote shows and CD covers, to photos and more.

So, really, I would say that Flair Affair was initially an idea, but soon took on a life of its own. I am amazed at just how much potential for growth it has, even today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.

I am not sure what it is that might set me apart from others as I would like to believe that we all have our gifts.

As far as my art is concerned, I have always had a love for entertainment from early on. As a child I watched every talent-based show that I could access. In more recent times, shows like American Idol, X Factor, and others have been staples.

At a very young age, maybe around the age of ten, I would coordinate talent shows with the children in the neighborhood, build the stages, sell tickets, and act as the MC for every show we put on for those who would attend. I guess that spirit has always been wth me, even now. Perhaps what we are destined to be is instilled in us at a very early age. Who knows, maybe we are born with it already programmed in us.

My desire to be invloved in entertainment and to showcase talent on the level that I do is a smidgen of the potential of this platform that I have been blessed to be a part of. It is my hope that Flair Affair Entertainment continues to grow into the massive success it deserves to be. It really truly breathes on its own at times… ha!

How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?

I think that the challenge is always there for anyone who is trying to succeed. It is how we go about it that makes all the difference. I believe if we have the passion and truly want something bad enough, there is no such thing as a barrier that we cannot overcome one way or the other. What is the old saying? If you can’t climb it, go under it or around it, right? That always seems to be how I have managed to get things done. I very rarely take the word no as the answer. I do think that the challenges always call on our creative side, for sure. How bad do we want it and what are the talents and resources that we have available to make it happen. Also, one must consider the talents of others to assist when needed.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I have learned that we must always give 100% of ourselves. Dedication and moreover, a true love for what we do is surely a prerequisite. That combination on top of a person’s talent, communication skills, and business sense will open many opportunities for an individual seeking success. With Flair Affair Entertainment, I believe that keeping things as simple as possible with an open communication between all involved truly is the key. We are all friends on one level or another and we know that we can depend on each other at the end of the day. Clients can depend on FA Ent. to make good on our word and in return they are there to back us up all the way down the line. It is a mi cass es su casa arrangement where we all benefit from the association. If FA Ent. is in need of something, we know that we can reach out across our network, and typically there is someone who can assist us or is willing to participate in a pending project on one level or another and the same is true for our family of artists, music professionals, business associates, fans, and supporters. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Many of our clients have been with us for years and I suspect it will be that way for as far into the future that I can see.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The list is long beginning with God. My belief is that all things are possible through our creator, first and far most. Then would be my family as they have stuck it out through the thick and thin. They have supported me all the way down the line. From my mother, siblings, significant other, and cousins. They have invested in projects and assisted with shows, etc. I have to also give a huge thank you to the artists, fans, supporters, and associates who have done their part to ensure the success of Flair Affair Entertainement. I would add that the initial group of folks via the CSU-Pueblo Today, including the mass comm dept., all contributed in a huge way. It is because of literally, thousands of people around the globe that we have survived and continue to strive to this date.
